no just some lad about my age on his way to work. was wearing yellow coat etc, so assume some sort of labourer or warehouseman like myself.

Very well done mate Takes a lot more ***** that most think to see something like that thru.
Done a few like that with people trapped on the roof of a car, and another slipping in and out of conciousness. Its only after it really hits you what just happened.

Take some time out to relax mate, you really need to get it out of your system.

Well done you .
I recently stopped to help an' old boy who had fallen over and cut his head open - nothing like what you've witnessed today - but it does make you feel good to know that you have helped someone - i was in a foul mood before hand too.
My next door neighbour fell over the other day and knocked her tooth out on the pavement - really shook her up (as you can imagine - she's pushing 70, if not there already). Anyhow, after she'd gotton up, she approached a man who was cleaning his car, and explained to him what had happened and asked him if he would be kind enough to drive her home - "it's only down the road" - amazingly he replied "oh, you'll be alright love, the walk will help the shock" - she was covered in blood, left half her shopping at the road and was in a terrible state - what an arsehole!!!

(but well done you)

Good work. Be nice to know the outcome. We're all assuming he'll be OK but without sounding negative should you be? Sounds a v serious head injury.

I mean are you sure he was going to be Ok? It sounded a bad head injury. Maybe I've missed the bit where you said he was going to be OK.

Its easy enough to just ignore it and just drive past, a lot of people do this - dont want to get involved blah blah.

Well done for stopping you have no doubt saved someones life this morning.

hats off to you, you deserve a feckin medal

Well done COB. Brought back a few memories as a mate of mine had a push-bike accident back in November/December involving head injuries, written off bike etc.

Regarding the bike, if it was at all decent, he would have had it insured. If it was close to new, the manufacturer may also want to look at it and or rebuild it depending on what's busted up.

no, ofcourse i dont know for real. even the ambulance people didnt know. but the fact he was concious most the way through from when i arrived and saw his teapot head injury to leaving him, gave me encouragement. i may ring the hospital up later.

the guy lost a lot of blood on the road, which is still there now after rain , just hope he makes a good recovery. he was chatting and mumbling about his arm and legs hurting so again feeling the pain is a good sign.

case of wait and see, but i dont wanna take up the hospitals un-necessary resources making phonecalls etc. hence why ive left it thus far.

maybe when the bobbies come collect his bik, they may have some information. its all on log and they have my details

again thatnks for the comments, as said earlier, not looking for praise/medals/confidence boost, i did what i felt was right, and i took some of the shock out by typing this thread for others to read and share comments/stories

cheers guys

Ok. I'm sure we all hope 'Al' is Ok. Everybody seemed ery positive about the outcome but as there was no mention of it I thought people were jumping the gun somewhat although I'm sure with your help you've given him a great chance of being Ok. Well done on doing what you did

Thumbs down well how rude can you be!

just rang up scun.thorpe general. lady at reception was lovely and passed me through to a&e. another lady answered and i explianed briefly what happened.

she put me through to a sister and i asked how he was doing.

her... "what relative are you"
me... "well, erm im not, i tried to help while the ambulance arrived"
her... "im not prepared to give out confidential information over the phone"
me... "oh, ok, all i know was he was call..."
her... "did you not hear what i said?"
me... "sorry yes, can you just tell me if hes alright/survived, as i was really worried earlier"
her... "all i can say is the gentleman who you refer to was admitted this morning"
me... "ok, thanks"
her..... *dial tone*

i havent the foggiest now. wish i hadnt called. for all i know he could be fine or dead

Well done, this guy is really lucky that you stopped and acted, I think your actions deserve to be recognised somehow.

This must have been one hell of a traumatic thing to have got mixed up in.

Maximum respect to you
