Excellent, thanks for all the interest..

Now, this may take a little longer to plan, but we are still looking at first 1/4 of 2001... please keep an eye out for the next post regarding this, which will have all the details in it... a group of us are now in the process of thrashing out the plan of action and the charities involved.

We will be posting details soon, but in the mean time please add any comments to this thread that you deem useful.

Thanks for the support, we will update you all shortly!

This sounds like fun I should be able to make it.

How about adding the NSPCC to the charity list?

I'm all for a national thing.

I haven't seen any postings from any of my northen neighbours, but I am sure that we can get a good turnout on the day.

So come on lads, speak up and be heard.

Andrew.

Cool

OK i'm in. Whenever.

Can I suggest as another charity " The Downs Syndrome Association". This cause is particularly close to my heart as my brothers son has Downs, and he is one spectacular kid. Any help I can channel in that direction has my time. Co-incidentally, if we are looking for sponsorship, and a big name, they dont come much bigger than Damon Hill who is a patron of the D.S.A., but i unfortunately dont have his phone No.

Dr. Evil, its a great idea, and i'll support it whatever the charity, but Mr.Hill lives in the biggest house in Hambledon!

Over to you. Shaun.

*** Apologies, but this replys is a bit long ***

I've checked the diary, I'm free and ready to raise some cash.

Can I suggest another charity??

Multiple Seclrosis (sorry I can't spell it) - A 29 year old friend of mine has been struck down with it for about 9 months now, spent 7 weeks in hospital this year. I've watched get gradually worse over this period of time. I've watched him loose the ability to use his left leg, left arm and left eye. His condition has varied, and from a limp, to crutches and now a wheelchair. It was a shock.

It really hurts to watch someone so independant and active (active biker & snowboarder), turned into someone so dependant on his fiancee that she has had to quit her job of 9 years, and get part time work to be able to be home more to look after him.

To watch him not give up, and show the sort of courage that most of us can't imagine! It shows a strength of character that none of us, would want either ourselves or loved ones to go through. After watching his struggle and determination, yet never giving up through all this.

He gets married in May, and wants to walk down the aisle, rather than use a wheelchair. He wants to be back on a bike in the next two years. If determination is a measure on whether we get things done, he's done it 10 times over already.

Words can't express my total and utter respect for this man. The least I can do is drive my car about, and try to raise some money to help.

Sorry if I rambled on a bit!
Andy

PS - Alex if you need a hand with anything, drop me a mail.

Alex.......dont forget we need to catch up soon mate re: all these going on

And also we need to contact Mullie *shaun* and get "downs syndrome" added to the charitys list as my request. Andys idea is spot on too and well done to andy in higlighting the fact.

Its gonna be a good event. Stay posted.
