Yeah, I thought the panorama program was pants. But basically they just said tap water in the UK is every bit as good as bottled water from NZ at 21 quid a pop What kind of fool would buy that!?!?!?

I drink lots of water, apparently it's healthy to drink a decent amount - and I certainly feel better when properly hydrated. If I'm at home I drink it out of the tap. If I'm at work, I usually take a bottle from home. If I run out at work I fill my bottle from the cooler/fountain. If I have to buy a drink while I'm out on site or driving, I just pick the cheapest bottled water. No snobbery for me, just given a choice between fizzy drinks, vending machine "coffee", or bottled water - I'm happy to buy bottled.

UK Drinking Water Inspectorate Information

I have recorded readings of over 100 mg/l in my drinking water, thats why I buy bottled water with zero nitrates.

When I am in the house I drink tap water, but when I'm at work and fancy water, I'll always buy bottled. The cold water that comes out of the tap there is not only warmish no matter how long you run the tap for, but it's cloudy too. There's probably nothing really wrong with it but I'd rather something clear and at least a bit cold. I will too re-use the bottles by filling them up with my tap water and taking them with me another day.

I drink filtered at home and at work. From watching that Panorama rubbish the only thing I would take note on is the issue with plastic bottles. Why cant they come up with something a bit more environmently friendly? Tbh I recycle most of mine even if out and about I keep hold and stick it in my box at home.

Your work is legally required to have a supply of tap water for drinking which comes from a rising main - which it sounds like this isn't. That said, the cloudiness is almost certainly just air bubbles.

Some years ago Anglian Water entered some of their tap water in a mineral water taste competition, under some fake labels. It came second.

We are on well water here-its arrives from Dartmoor. It has been analysed and came out as considerably purer then tap water and it tastes very very good. People visiting used to take 5 gallon containers home with them.

I would much rather use that than water which has been recycled several times!

Its very good in vodka and scotch.

Because they will add chelating agents to the water supply, this will lower the readings coming out of the tap,but it will be still there and can be released if it comes in to contact with certain things like salt.

The BBC did a programme years ago showing all the big brands and some guy who was filtering Manchester tap water and bottling it.

Guess which one came out best in purity and taste tests?

Yep, the Manchester tap water.

Go get a Brita filter and save yourselves a fortune!

I use osmosis to absorb water as it evaporates from the worlds oceans. Drinking water is for lower life forms

No proof where that water has come from, the water board will come and test the water coming out of the tap, which has been doctored by then.

So why the best before date??
The Buxton bottling site is in a railway goods yard!
