Yep about 2 years , I had a 98 Uk had it for two years then had the major decision JDM RA or MY01. When for the RA and still have it nearly 3 years. Its only money .

MY00 Turbo for 1 year 1 month so far but looking to sell it for the usual house deposit. Must admit its cost a lot more to run it than I anticipated - the main cost being 2 services a year on a classic (not so bad for the MY01 > owners) making it more expensive to service than most cars. Petrol is also bad but I knew that before I bought it. All that said I still have a smile on my face every time I drive it but at the end of the day Id rather have my own house than fast car. Im sure I can get something else in a few years time. And I sure as hell wont miss no air con.

nearly bought one a couple of years ago and was told I couldnt afford it (by a SNEtter BTW). So glad I listened, used that time to buy a house (cant afford a Scooby but bought a house..lol) and have a couple of blindoing tropical holidays.
Got the Scooby and just got married hoorah!!
4 door is practical enough for (fingers crossed) when the kiddies are on the menu and company car now pays allowance and gives us a fuel card for SUL/Optimax and oil

In all my years of owning and driving cars,and I have had some good ones, I have never driven a car with such character and "fun factor". As an ex biker I can appreciate it when people say it is like a bike on 4 wheels.

I can't see myself not owning a Scooby, and I really like the classic that I have got now.

Bought my 99UK Turbo new in March 99 after a 9 month wait!!!! Still got it 4.5 years later , keep threatening to get something different but every time I wash it & go out for a blast I decide to keep it . Mortgage now plays a big part in the proceedings though!!

Had a MY98 NON turbo wagon (yuk) for a year

Then bought a MY98 turbo 4dr (mmmm) had it a year so far, no plans to change.

Got the house, got the wife, got the kids and its a great family car, even though i dont get to use it much.

PS, if anyone decides to buy their wife a "family car" buy a cheap mondeo and make sure the scooby is for "you".

Had my MY99 for 10 months before trading in on a P1, which lasted almost 6 months (and it's life was tragically ended by a marvellous woman who knew just had to drive - in front of me). Then I went over to the Dark Side for 2 cars and I'm back again soon with an STI spec C.

So I guess I'm lowering the average a bit then!

I guess I'm in for the long haul.

Bought the first (White UK Impreza Turbo) on 07 April '94 (day of release in the UK), and kept it for 50K, trading on 07 June '96 for a DGM Turbo. Kept that for 50K miles and traded on 12 April '98 for a White Turbo, which lasted 55K miles. I had a brief 9 month ownership period of a Seat Leon Cupra (dreadful car), before selling that on 12 August '02 for an 02 WRX PPP. Done 17K since and my Wife bought an 03 Sportswagon just over a month ago. 02 will be replaced in about 12 months time with an 04 WRX PPP I guess. 03 in 05 maybe.

Why change for a sensible family car? Isn't that what they are already?

Hey, this thread's 6 months old...

I've had my Scooby 3 1/2 years and have no immediate plans to change it. Given what it's actually worth, a change to a newer model would be stupidly expensive for the difference it would make, and there's no other car at or near the same price that I'd rather have. That's not been true of any of my previous cars - after a year or so I got fed up of each one. The scooby is the one car I've owned that I just don't want to get rid of.

That said, I got the upgrade itch last year and did take an STI VII for a test drive - I didn't rate it too highly, but having found and allocated the cash I just bought a Westfield instead. It's a lot of work keeping it on the road, but it is at least cheap and doesn't depreciate. It does a great job of relieving the boredom and providing some variety.

Bought my first Scooby at 22, MY97 Turbo in Silver, 2 weeks later met my future wife, sold it 14 months later, bought a Fester Turbo, bought a house, Fester gets nicked, buy a 'Family car', have first child, moved house, wife buys me my second Scooby, X plater in DBM, and also pays for my 17" Gold alloys and my STI V6 spoiler!! Owned that for the last 8 months and already talking about a P1!!!!

Had a couple of Legacy's when I needed rear leg room, now that I have grown up and have a family to think about I have an Impreza MY03 STI8.

The kids are 3 and 6 months so don't need rear leg room. If the wife is not in the car the kids think it is great fun throwing it around the corners. We have a few good twisties around where we live and all I can here from the back is Weeeeeeeeeeee.

Oh to be in a 5 point harness.

Should have added that I use the bike for all of my day to day travelling so running costs aren't really an issue.
