One thing I have noticed, is that the site seems to die at roughly the same times each day, are any big processess being scheduled to run at those times, also worth noting that when the forum goes down, the main bbs.scoobynet.com page still loads

Guys

We've simply reached that stage again where the load and traffic on the site has reached a critical point, and particularly the search system is causing the big problems.

The outage earlier today was us indexing an updated version of the search that we've been researching for the last year.

We're going to attempt to get this running over the next 24 hours and see how we go.

OK Guys

How does it seem now?

We've made a significant change which SHOULD have improved things.

There will ALWAYS be times when the site is simply overloaded with traffic, but in all honesty they shouldn't really be more than once or twice a day at the most - ideally less than once a week.

Could you please report back and let me know if things seem to have improved?

Cheers

Simon

Site hasn't died at all and seems quite a bit quicker.

Lightning quick last night. Not too sure atm, as I have various network stuff bustling in the background, but it seems ok

Nice one guys.

Thanks a lot for your feedback.. it looks like we've made an improvement, which means all the work has been worthwhile. Sorry for how long it took.

It does seem faster, but I would wait a little longer to be sure. My computing endeavors always seem to bite me on the bum just after, or as, I am saying "It is sorted!"

it *seems* to be faster, but I am still experiencing slow load times between pressing the submit button and the actual post appearing

Thanks guys.

As I say. No matter what you do, we'll always have slow times here and there. But the full "site down for 5 minutes, a few times a day" was unacceptable in the extreme.
