This happened to me
Went for my 20 week scan and was told I was in the "at risk" category. I was 27 so hardly "old", it was my third pregnancy and my other two children were born without problems (except pre-eclampsia).
Had to go to Kings college in London to have the test done. Pretty invasive really, and that too carries risks! Very painful because the person doing it was a trainee and was about to take a sample of my intestine

Anyhow, the results came through within about 3 days. No sign of Down Syndrome and they confirmed that my third child was a boy! I carried him to 36.1 weeks whereby the high blood pressure obviously made him feel he wanted out!

A healthy baby boy at 5.12Ib, now 9 months old and doing just fine.

My heart felt sympathies go out to those who have to go through it though - the bottom dropped out my world the day of that scan and a million questions ran through me - truth is...... what will be will be and sometimes people opinions will differ from your own with regards to what to do depending on results!

Whilst at King though I met a couple who had been through this 5 times! Each baby was infact healthy - and I guess I never gave it a second thought with earlier scans - you just "assume" its all OK.

Good luck to all those peeps with bumps

Glad to hear all seems to be well jay - I worried myself daft all through my wife's pregnancy and delivery and our wee girl is now just over 2 weeks old & she's absolutely fine (and so is the wife).

on another note, someone else who is pregnant where my wife works, said to my mrs few weeks that she is at a low risk and her baby is "normal" this is when we were worried, how insensitive can some people be
