Update from the McRae Gathering site

Sunday Morning – 31st August at the Prodrive Banbury facility

Cars from all over Europe will converge on the Banbury facilty for 10am. (Marshalls to be on site at 9am)

Prodrive will open their heritage centre at the Banbury facility and the Subaru World Rally Team workshops for you to explore and make their barbecue available from which we’ll be serving hot breakfast rolls whilst we wait for everyone to arrive for what is truly going to be a once in a lifetime event

Sunday Lunchtime – 31st August

At 12 noon, Colin’s car from the 1996 World Rally Championship – N1 WRC – will roll out of the gates from Banbury to lead the convoy to the Prodrive facility at Warwick. Joining the M40 at Jct 11 westbound heading for Jct 15. Hopefully we can get the convoy from Point A to Point B in about an hour.

The Essex Police Impreza Interceptor as featured in the Channel 5 TV Programme “Police Interceptors” will take part in the convoy along with Warwickshire Police’s unmarked Impreza (be on your best behaviour guys!) We’re really excited about these guys taking part as it shows the support and buy-in we have for this event and we’re delighted they’re going to be part of it.

Sunday Afternoon – 31st August

From 1pm until 5pm the group will be located at Prodrives Warwick test facility Only cars bearing the official sticker will be allowed access & a checkpoint will be set up both at the gates of the Warwick facility and where the convoy leaves the A4177 about 2 miles away.

On arrival of the convoy at Warwick:

Prodrive will lay on demos/passenger laps on the adverse handling track, demos/passenger laps on the wet grip and also on the off-road tracks

There will be the opportunity to book on Prodrive's Rally Day, with discounted rates available and 10% will go towards the charities

There will be a Show and Shine event for those who want to take part. Prodrive employees will be the judges with an exclusive Prodrive prize for the winner.

Warwick Police's road safety stand and their unmarked Impreza will be displayed

Plans are afoot to spell out C. McRae or Colin McRae in Imprezas on the runway at Warwick. Dave Richards of Prodrive who has bought into this event totally has said he will make his helicopter available for aerial photos (to be confirmed). This would be awesome, but is going to take some organising! We’d love to do it and are looking into it. More on that soon but if anybody fancies taking the organising of that on then please email me - andy AT mcrae-gathering.co.uk. We're swamped with work so could be done with someone to take ownership of this.

The TV Company that are doing the “Police Interceptor” series on Channel 5 are interested in the TV rights to this event (to be confirmed). That shows how big this is going to be. It’s going to be totally unique and an awesome day for any Subaru or Colin McRae fan. If you’ve not yet got your stickers for the Subaru event of the year then get them soon!

If you are waiting for stickers or shirts . . . . .

There seems to be some confusion over shirt and sticker orders. Please read this to clarify the situation.

Some people are getting confused over shirt and sticker orders where they've ordered stickers and either ordered shirts at the same time or ordered stickers then later ordered shirts and the shirts have arrived before the stickers.

To clarify how things work:

The shirts are embroidered to order for you and come direct to you from the embroidering company. They were forewarned this was going to be hectic and were ready for a large amount of orders so are shipping initial orders faster than anticipated. Making and shipping embroidered goods is all they do so they are far more geared up for large quantities of orders than we are. They have absolutely nothing to do with sticker sales or shipment.

The sticker sales and shipment is carried out by volunteers within the McRae Gathering Team, all of whom have full-time jobs and other duties involved with this event. We fit things in as best we can. Despite us begging and pleading that people don't chase sticker orders as we have it in hand and you WILL get your stickers for this event, people are still emailing daily asking where they are. Please DON'T! As stated before on numerous occasions - Please allow 28 days for delivery of both shirts and stickers. We're working flat out on this so would appreciate a bit of understanding.

Webmasters - PLEASE pass this on to your users/members as the more time we spend dealing with queries from people who haven't read our previous announcements the less time we have dealing with orders etc...

PLEASE DON'T LEAVE IT TILL THE LAST MINUTE

Please note that ALL participants will have to carry a sticker somewhere on the FRONT of their car so they are clearly obvious to the Marshals. This can be on paintwork or glass (for those who don't like putting stickers on paintwork!), but it must be obvious to smooth traffic flow into the Prodrive facilities.
