It wasn't me ! LOL
But maybe the guy wanted do a constant 90-100, Shouldn't have been up yur **** though - why didn't you just pull away from him in your lane, why speed up in the middle lane (smacks of showing off) - Bavarian Trash mmm
I like this forum its very active but some of you scooby guys have zero respect and knowledge of other cars and their potential, as if yours are perfect and the fastest cars ever created - when ever i see a scoob its always driving agressively (which is fair enough why buy one otherwise) - but then your always slagging other car users for doing it.....215 bhp 215 lbs torque standard that pisses over everything yeh right !

Am I alone in thinking Scoobynutta is an irresponsible fool?

The problem I see with getting drawn into a race on the public roads is that it proves one thing, and one thing only.

It isn't a question of how fast your car is, or even a question of driver skill. It's who's going to take the most risks before someone backs off. So, you give chase, or take the bait, the "red mist" comes down, and before you know it you're driving like a complete ****. (Been there, done that, got the t-shirt, grew up...)

The Impreza's a superb car. I give the car a sound thrashing and the buzz is brilliant. Strangely, I don't feel the need to prove my manhood by enciting others to race. If a Nova's up my ****, I'd rather pull over and chill than get involved as I've got a lot more to lose than they have.

Seeing someone inches away from a head-on at a small meet sort of hammers home what happens when you get carried away driving with someone else. Everyone who witnessed that, particularly the guy who had the experience, changed a little.

Drive how you want. Put your own life at risk by all means. But do you have the right to put other random strangers' lives at risk?

Actually, I sort of agree with your post, especially
"credit should be given for knowing when to back off without things getting out of hand."

Spot on. It's difficult to do that when the red mist's down tho. Experience talking here, I'm ashamed to say. Thankfully that was 5 years ago and my stupidity harmed no-one and nothing. God only knows how.

You are right though, there's a balance to be struck. it's just damn difficult to strike that balance when you're sitting behind a keyboard rather than chatting to someone over a pint [/b]

Theres a difference between driving fast and trying to out drive another person.

When I have a play with another car it's usually when one is behind the other. Not head to head.

It can be great fun following another car through a series of tight bends and trying to keep up, or even being out in front and setting the pace.

I think it all comes down to responsibility and knowing your limits. Anyone who has owned a fast bike will know that.

I bought the car to drive it fast. If I had a Cinquicento, I would probably drive that fast. It's just a bit more fun in the Scoob.

On the other hand, if I didn't enjoy fast driving, the Scoob would be the last car I would buy (except said cinquicento of course).

Better include yourself there golfturbo, only a standard totally unmodified impreza has that (and they are rare). You better bone up son.

I seem to recall posting something similar several months back and got shouted down for my efforts....

I did try showing off once and to my cost, nearly killed myself, my best friend, and my baby sister.... NOT CLEVER... and I realised since then... Hey this is just a car...it's not invincible and nor are we...

I don't always practise what I preach ... because you have to admit there are some out there that will test the patience of the best of us... ... I think we've all been there...

There used to be a brilliant two day course run by Richard Grimes... whatever happened to him?.... and what he tried to do was instill in Scoob owners... that yes are are driving powerful machines... and no we don't have to prove it... the car speaks for itself...

but I have to say there have been times when I've been grateful for the power and it's probably got me out of more problems than the one (which I totally misjudged) it got me into (but it wasn't the car - it was the driver).

P

If anyone says they never drive their Scooby in an aggressive manor they are lying........

If we didn't want to drive fast then why did we buy what has widely been hailed as "The Performance Car of the Decade" (90's that is). We all speed at times and all keep our foot on the loud pedal longer than we need to in some situations.

If you openly race on public roads then you have to be willing to accept the consequences and not just the legal ones. Playing with the traffic is a Scooby driver’s trademark but you need to know when to stop and when to say NO (I remember that Grange Hill song).

If your stupid enough to think that it'll never happen to you then you shouldn't be on the road in the first place let alone behind the wheel of a Scooby.

Golf turbo,
a standard impreza turbo can be anything from 208 bhp to 280bhp depending on which model they are.

Keep reading the comics

If I Meant a P1 or an STI etc etc I would have said....i think the P1 drivers on here would be pretty pissed off if you descibed their car as a standard scoob

Wink

Spot on Scoobynutta.

Has R19KET gone to church? Gone off to sit on this weeks council committee that imposes a completely un-justified 30 mph speed limit on an open stretch of road cos a pedestrian was seen there once. haha - come back and look at my massive puerile ****! you're a great example of the sanctimonious gits that like to assume the moral high ground and treat everyone else on here like naughty children who can't be trusted with that 'dangerous' toy. But don't leave, it's fun, tell us about your Morris Minor Traveller and the best colour rug to put on the back parcel shelf.

Rant over! Looking forward to revving the engine later on near the local old peoples' home......heh heh
