she ripped of 3 people, and so she deserves hundreds / thousands of people absuing her??? I think that's called overkill... espescially when you have no idea what sort of people you're recruiting with this little project.

I just think it's very sad that 3 people (i actually make it 2 of those 3) think they need this much back up to resolve an issue with 1 female.... still, i'm a bloke and i'm not 20, so you best toddle off and get some more mates to deal with me i guess

I find it highly amusing that 'forum members' will happily act like pack animals and go along with anything that happens if others find it funny, even join in with highly voiced opinions and actions when they remain anonymous, then press the "he's been naughty" button when someone dissagrees with what they're doing

i'd bet more than 200 quid that the majority of those posting messages anonymously on guest books etc would be far from willing to go and face someone who had done the same in person. Big bunch of keyboard hero's who have no idea what this could lead to

You're probably right, but it still doesn't excuse her actions either. She didn't know whether the people she was rippsing off could have afforded £200 or not. It could have totally destroyed a low income family's Christmas. Obviously her conscience is not like yours.

Perpertrators of crime always have excuses made for them, or they shouldn't be treated too harshly etc., but you must not forget that they have chosen not to live by the rules that most of us do, so should not expect good treatment when they do so. People really need to accept the ramifications of their actions.

Hopefully, this embarrassment will pervent her from doing it again, maybe even make her see the error of her ways and take a better path. The police could have got involved, which would have been worse for her in the future. A criminal record is a heavy millstone to wear for the rest of your life.

People will forget this though.

Sorry, this appears to be simple english - no punctuation and a couple of spelling mistakes..

ok, joking aside,

Is you owned a shop and somebody walked in and stole £600 worth of goods, you review the CCTV and find their identity. would you;

a) take it on the chin
b) call the police, but the evidence won't stand up as the picture is not that clear, and has no date&time stamp etc
c) name and shame, letting your fellow shop owners know the id of the scumbas robbing you?

also..

regardless of this thread, her facebook profiles are public, meaning anybody can view them.

one buyer has already stated that once this has got him his money back, he's taking her details to the police station anyway... so the point of this is???

as i've said, what she did was wrong, but be honest.... leading up to xmas, who in their right mind is going to believe that someone will A: have got hold of 3 brand new boxed Wii consoles, and B: be selling them for 180 quid on ebay when they're going for over 300 quid daily on there??

when something looks too good to be true it usually is

I've got every idea what this could lead to and I bloody hope she get's everything she deserves, whatever that may be.

Too many people stick up for people who have done something wrong

If she gets some serious problems coming her way through trying to con other people then that's perfectly fine with me.

Oh,and i'd be more than willing to go face to face with the person who has scammed me. Care to bet that 200 quid with me ??

So you are condoning carrying a weapon, just in case you get threatened ?

By your rationale, shall we release paedophiles, rapists , muggers, murderers etc then as well. Where do the boundaries start with regard to criminal activity.

She started the auction to sell 3x Wii's at £180 each, regardless of whether 'if it's too good to be true etc' , she has advertised them at that price. If she doesn't sedn the goods on, and going by the reply CDF got. She knew what she was doing, and was being blatant about it in the first place.

I do not see any problem with what has been done

I admit that some of the info on the site might have over stretched the mark, and would openly admit that some of the comments especially the ones of an explicit sexual nature are uncalled for (and will be removed)

But at the end of the day she has brought this upon herself. As for her personal safety, well she has published her email, mobile and home phone number as well as her address in numerous places on the internet, so exposure of some of these points is not really over stepping the mark.

The comments on the actual website are factual, and would be corrected if she decided to state differently.

As for the head hunt, she put herself in the line of fire, she carried out the scam, and she is £600 better off. To some people especially scamming scum, all this could be well worth the £600. Whos to know what else she has sold and who elses money she has.

As I said from the start, I appreciate the angle on the matter, and that she is female and "vunerable" But at the end of the day, a man is just as vunerable to most things these days as a woman is. I personally dont think this thread or the site put her in any further danger than she has already put herself in by publishing herself on the net. As for the negative publicity and the name and shame...... She deserves every ounce of humiliation. Just like people hounded by the media do. The media didnt pick this story up, its too small, but the treatment is no different.

why would me not being too worried about knives mean i condone carrying weapons?? half of those who carry knives wont use them anyway.

so now taking advantage of people's naivity is on par with kiddy fiddlers, rapists and murderers eh?? Gotta love people's perspectives on here, explains why this has gone as far as it has

yes she did wrong and knew what she was doing, but surely if that e cheque clears then they're all square? But nooooo in scoobynet land, that's far from an adequate outcome, we must shame and humiliate her too........ fair enough, if that's what you get off on. But wait, even that isn't sufficient to satisfy the needs of the crowd, let's bring her family and friends into it too!! Yeah that'll teach her!! Better still.... let's do ALL of that and also put up her contact details and where she lives on here as well, just to REALLY show her.... yup, that'll do nicely. Now she's getting loads of abuse and obscene messages, she's well and truly been taught a lesson now. We are so wonderfull and an asset to the internet

oh hang on.... forgot the last bit... now that she's been taught a valid lesson, lets go tell the police and get her nicked anyway

i fail to see how making contact details available for work purposes are in anyway simialr to having contact details made available for internet vigilanties with a point to prove. This thread has shown that people's levels of 'justice' vary, i think it's gone too far, others don't, some are probably willing to take it further. This being spread all over the world on various sites means eventually, it's not just going to be car owners clubs reading this, and who knows what sort of individuals are going to have access to her information with a belief that it should be taken further still?? So can someone please let me know what actually has to happen before this has been taken too far??

How stupid can you get, posting all of your personal info on the internet for anybody to see and then trying to con people using your real name !

Firstly, why are we suddenly thinking because she has been named and become famous that she will now be stalked raped and murdered.

Facebook | Welcome to Facebook!.... people do it everyday.

Most people who ARE actually attacked are probably NOT on social networking sites. So to assume that just because a webpage has been created aside from the one she has already created herself, that she will now become the victim of a horrendus attack is a little far fetched.

Kiddy fiddlers get their pics in the paper almost everyday, but 99% of them are still walking free, and working amongst us.

So speaking of blowing things out of proportion, lets not go too far the other way and defend her eh. Jesus, that is almost like saying murders and rapists in prison SHOULD keep their human rights ! Osama deserves a fair trial eh.

This is by all acounts going global, yes, but what is different to this, and say a story on Sky News.... the details are similar, the public opinion is open (but monitored and censored) and in a lot of peoples opinions, her "crime" is worthy of the publicity.
She is a lying cheating young female, who happens to be semi attractive.
Is that a get out of jail free card?

So WHAT is the actual issue here?

She is female
She is young
She is pretty
Its only £200 per person
Its only a games console
The buyer should have had more brains
Its unfair to name and shame anyone

More to the point, scammer believe they can carry out these things without ever facing a person, concequences, and have no interest in being face to face.
So when something like this happens it adds an element they were not quite ready for. They actually THRIVE on not having to meet you, and in their own little world, they believe they will just disappear into the night with your money.

the issue is....

why (possibly) get the money back and still do this?
why do this and still contact the police anyway?

maybe my life's just a bit more fulfilling and i don't feel the need to torture people for mistakes to make myself feel good
