ah, a little good news...
just rang up rebel powerpipes, who are based in barton and deal with custom exhausts and powerflow systems. guy on the blower said for me to pop up for around 4pm with the exhaust and he'll see what he can do. says it seems striaght forward from how ive described the damage, and it shouldnt be too extortionate touch wood.
gonna play by ear and see what he says. seemed quite knowledgeable though...

bit of an update...
popped through to rebel power pipes today and had a little chat with the owner deepak. nice chap actually.
anywho showed him the backbox and the damage, and he seems to think the car it was on was revearsed into or something... so looks like i may have been sold a duff system.
but... he said its repariable and should maybe cost around £30 to fix. will chop off tailpiece, and weld a new 4.5" bore stainless steel piece on. would be ready this time tomorrow
but im busy so will go through friday morning and pick it up. he said if its a straight swap and offers up well enough, he'll fit it for £15-20 too, which i would expect so as its a blitz system...
light at the end of the 3" tunnel
will post piccies and take videos of the sound before and after... compare sounds...

all they have to do is say it was sent un-damaged. i have no proof, apart from an opinion of an exhaust manufacturer... i may text him and see whether hes claiming from parcel force or not.
i have a nasty feeling this is a 'live and learn' experience.
if i had bought the exhaust via ebay, then id have had some clout as it wouldnt have been recieved as desribed... but i didnt, like a ********

as said above, im going through friday morning after work at around 9am, incase any problems arise. looks pretty clean cut to fit, all the damage was on the tailpipe. a case of the waiting game. apart from the big dent, only minor scratches which wont be seen when fitted (underside)
thing is bioforger, i dont know if i have any comeback against them (the seller)

Is there a way to tell if the dents are *fresh*?
Looks like too many ripples/dents to be caused by transit (I would think there may be A dent in transit, not a rippling along etc.)
Personally I think it was sent like that. No co-incidence that it was sent in feeble packaging. If I were sending something like that, I would put it in solid packaging to cover myself as much as anything else.
Give the seller the benefit of the doubt and all that but I don't believe it for a second (and nor do most people reading this thread either I reckon).
However, it may be more hassle than it's worth so may be best to get someone to fix it at your expense. Up to you.

Hope it all gets sorted Andy, it's experiences like this which put people off buying over the internet. Anyhow once the exhaust is sorted and on your car the first time you give it some welly all will be forgotten.
