They should alter the system of losing EXP, you lose one if you quit lone wolves or one for each team member if you quit a team game.

righty ohh, last night i figured i would give it another go, just about to start the ark level and i noticed a text box in the upper right with somebody from my friends lists name inside (this confused me lol)

switched on the headset and he said he didn't have a clue what he was doing but he was told he was joining somebodies party

asked him if he had done any of the single player stuff and he said very little, found it a bit strange that he was allowed to play a level he has not already got up to, but anyway, this was obviously the co-op part so we started, all the way up to the big scarab thing (assume this is the final part of the level) he was completely crap, had never seen one before and was just messing about on the quad bikes so we got nowhere fast, anyway he quit, so i figured i would just do it myself, only it put me back to the start of the level just because he quit?

is the co-op part of the game a different section?> i`m sure in gears the co-op person can join/leave whenever and it wont restart the level

 

The co-op/single player game is the same, as for restarting your friend plays the part of the arbiter so i guess by quitting then the game had to reload the AI version of him or something.

well esp on a skool night. Surprised i was up relatively early for work. Was a bummer that we came 2nd by only 1 point serveral times so no ranking up and pretty much wasted the night, as im guessing theres no accumulation going on...

 

Go for Social play to get exp points (normally the easiest way)then go to ranking to get your Skill level on each specific match.
But on skill level that only counts for the specific game type (e.g. i'm skill level 16 on ranked team slayer but only skill rank 6 on lone Wolves).

This shows how the ranking system works because my skill level on Rank Team Slayer went over 10 i became an Officer (but have only a small amount of exp)

 

It's 70 exp and Rank 10 or above to become an officer

 

ive seen some people have grades are slightly fainter than others like yours, this is when that grade as been bypassed by doing skill as well as exp?

 

yeah later on there are 2 ways of promotion, currently i can either earn 200exp or reach level 20 + 100 exp which ever comes first.

 

By accounts you can boost your EXP in social matches - some basketball star has just been found out doing it...

Methinks getting 100exp and skill 20 is the easier way

 

have done afew ranked slayer games and got my skill up. I then play lone wolves and my skill is 1, so i take it each gametype has its own skill level.

On the rank listings where it starts with 10(lietenant) can i get it by having say 5 on slayer and 5 on lonewolf or is it 10 in any one particular gametype?

 

It has to be 10 in one particular gametype, i'm pretty sure it ranks you up 1 per game regardless of your finishing position so it's just a case of playing 10 games.

oh no no no no no - skill level is basically tru-skill, you rank up by beating people with the same or higher skill than you - but yes, there's a different skill level for each game type.

EXP ranks up dependant upon the gametype - in lone wolves, slayer you'll get EXP for being 3rd or higher, if its oddball you'll have to win it.

it could well be for some gametypes. have been doing social slayer mostly where loosing team doesnt gain and so far out of about 15 team games, ive been on the winning team 5 times so exp has been slow.
On ranked lone slayer it seems to be either top half or first 3 to rank up below that stay the same, come last -1. This is also with ranked team slayer, be on the loosing team and come last you -1. So being the worse of the worse isnt good....wouldnt know if it is about beating higher skill players than you, im just working on the basis of not coming last...

AFAIK, you don't lose EXP if you come last, you only lose EXP if you quit the game early.

You'll lose skill level if you're beaten by someone with the same or lower skill, but I dont think the same applies if you're beaten by higher skilled players. I went into a ranked lone wolves slayer match and was joined by 4 rank 13's and I'm only 11 - they basically ripped me a new arsehole, only got 5 kills in the match whereas 4th got 17, despite a serious spanking I didn't drop down in skill level.

 

I completed Halo on Heroic last Friday and have to say I think the game is amazing. I'm a big fan of the others but loved this all the way through! One of the highlights was boarding the 2nd scarab via a ghost and a grav lift perfect crashdown then dismount

 

EXP is indeed lost when you quit or the fecking game lags out and it thinks you've quit

 

sounds like it is just if lower skill beats you...ah well i like being no.1 sounds pretty good to me

at least you dont get people giving you bad rep if you drop out (i hope) because they realise you will lose exp which is punishment enough not like PGR3 when i was getting bad artifacts on the screen just before it crashed and i needed a replacement, i got unsporting bad rep

Am i the only one here that thinks the game is completely boring?

The campaign is short and repetitive and the multi player is terrible, i get sick to death of unloading a full clip into someones back then hitting them for them to turn round and beat you down without even firing a bullet

Team rockets and shotty snipes have to be the worst game modes ever thought up!

Screw Halo 3 anyway, Team fortress 2 is where its at and roll on COD4!
