Counter Strike PC upgrade
Last time I looked I was in the high 70s.
Hercules Prophet Geforce2 MX2 32MB AGP running Nvidia Detonator drivers. Resolution is 1024x768.
As I said before PIII 866 cpu and 256MB of SDRAM.
I have 2 HDDs and CS runs off the 20GB one which is 75% empty. The operating system is on the other HDD.
Take a look in task manager to see what (if any) other apps are running in the back ground.

CS has a default cap on the fps.
If your getting 72fps then you have reached the limit.
To increase this, type in the console fps_max 100 or if u are like me fps_max 1000
Currently I peak over 100fps with everything max'd out on my GF3.

Tiggs has asked me to post this.
Since tweaking his graphics settings he has re-booted and graphics have gone mad everything too big, unusable.
He will be back on line after his hardware upgrade at the weekend.
Don't incourage him to tweak it only results in disaster.

What refresh rate is your monitor running at while playing CS. This could be the limiting factor with your configuration.
I have to make do with 100fps as its the highest refresh rate my monitor will do at 1280x1024
Y can disable the video sync but you may get distortion on the screen.

Tiggs sorry to hear that. We just turned off vsync and enabled OpenGL to support CPU instructions. That wouldn't crash your PC.
Did you change the refresh rate in the end? if so do you get a weird screen now? that can be easily fixed over a phone call.

lol, RR dont worry mate- new gear is on its way!
i'm sure it was more something i did than anything you suggested
just for your amusement- every time the pc turns on the screen is so big that the start button fills the screen
hence i cant do much!

Sounds like you have dropped down in resolution.
If you can
right click on a clear area of the desktop
select properties
in windows select setting tab
change resolution to 1024*768
screen should be bigger now!
there I go again

JT console problem - no idea

What is your grafix setting in CS set at
Software (from memory)
Open GL
3DFX
If its software (from memory) the PC is doing all the work rather than your Grafix card. Try changing the setting to Open GL or 3DFX.
Cheers

You lie
I get 60 fps and really flat graph, if it buggers up then it goes up and red which is nasty meaning your connection is buggered.
Your other readouts for in and out seem ok to me mate
to get higher fps then upgrade, try some more ram and see if that makes a difference.
Some ****'s are running at 100fps eeeeek!

Get more ram - 128 megs is around £20 now
get a new graphics card, you can get some dead quick ones for peanuts! Mine which is a geoforce 2 64 meg can be had for around £80, the 32 meg cards are only about £40 now.

its up to u if u want to try this
reboot your pc
before windows loads you will see in white windows 98, as soon as you see that hit F5
this will boot your PC into safe mode - no harm there
by default your PC should display 640*480 when windows has loaded in safe mode. you change then check/change the resolution to something higher.
reboot your PC as normal and if that was the problem it should cure it.
