people behave this way because they know that they have nothing to fear from the law. A fine will go nicely with the others and remain unpaid, prison ,(highly unlikely unless he was speeding also) no sweat and probably more comfortable than his home.
You however with a stake in society have lots to lose, criminal record to declare forever etc.
You did the right thing and as has been pointed out already what goes around comes around.

It's definitely Asda that does it. Some bloke started on my (pregnant) wife about a month ago because she couldn't (probably wouldn't knowing her ) move her trolley out of his way. I was in the next aisle with my son and heard the commotion. As it happened, some big fella stepped in before I got there and calmed it down. The mouthy fella was about 7 stone, covered in tattoos with a burberry cap one and a *** behind his ear. He looked well out of it.

I waited for him to leave and followed him into the carpark but he got in a cavalier that was packed with chavs so I decided to leave it.

Surely unless the supermarket is working with the local authority then their fines will just go straight in the bin?

I can't stand people using disabled spaces without entitlement BTW.

I must say I would have found it very difficult to resist hitting him in the fergibblers with my arm crutch! Can't stand selfish prats like that!

Incidentally, the Apfel Schnapps that they are selling in Lidls is really very nice-and its cheap.

they're entitled to clamp on their land, as long as they have signs etc.
I doubt fines would work for scumbags, unless Asda were going to send the boys round to collect!

Incidently, do you work for the National Association for the Care and Resettlement of Offenders (NACRO)?!!

good on the meathead...he realised he was wrong to park across the disabled spaces so he tried to pay quickly by pushing in, so he could move his van.

I'd agree. MattW's link above does have this though;

Quote:
"Town and City Parking attendants will monitor ASDA car parks, write up fixed penalty notices and dispatch them to the owners of any vehicle that’s parked where it shouldn’t be".

So maybe from that it suggests they are in cahoots with the local councils.

Other than that as pwhittle suggests, clamping on the spot would be effective, if not a little harsh AND too confrontational in this day and age. No money, no car.

I'd be all in favour of clamping people who selfishly take disables spaces, ditto fines. However unless the local council are involved then the fines would be going straight in the bin.
Hopefully in this case they are.

The name NACRO is related to what you mention Pwhittle and is a joke at the expense of some people who probably don't even use this BBS anymore seeing as it has it's roots back in 2000.........................

i second that, iwnt to the local hym and there was a van with "for sale" on it parked in the disabled spot, the other day there was an asian wedding on and every spot was full and i complained to the security guard.

also, my godbothering neighbours car was parked in that space with a badge for her mother, as i was going in and she was coming out on her own, what a rotten trick, it should be a 3 points job

He sounds very similair to a meathead who caused some roadrage on the M62 several weeks ago.

Basically he was in the vehicle of choice (White Transit Van) cuts up a guy in a Jag (Badly) anyway we hit traffic the Jag driver is remonstrating with the van driver who gets out in the stationary traffic (Shorts on just covering the builders smile) T shirt thats covered in cr#p and threatens the driver of the Jag with a piece of wood.

The suited and booted jag driver gets out and to my amazement performed a rather nice jump kick with spin move on the said meathead, takes him down, and gives him a right going over.

All the other drivers were beeping and then proceeded to drive around the meathead (recovering on the floor) when the traffic started to move.

1 nil to the gentlemen in his rather nice Jaguar.

I have also heard NETTO is another shop of choice for the scum of this country.

As for the clamping idea at ASDA can i ask why disabled bays out number Parent and child bays 10-1 on average in most supermarkets.

What a ...t!

Diplomacy was the right thing to do having your child with you.

In an ideal world you would have been on your own, and maybe you are Jet Li's stunt double, and you kicked him in the nuts and jabbed him in the throat before finishing with a leaping knee to the forehead!!!

(wow, hadn't read Zippys post about the suited gent when I worte this! Top marks!)

That sort of thing doesn't happen in Texas! He would almost certainly get shot! The concealed hangun laws start to make sense, somewhat!

Great story!

Also Add Primark to the list, not a supermarket more cheap clothes outlet, walking past with my eldest yeaterday around 4pm. couple outside arguing very loudly, he then lays into the shop window with his fists (one hand clutching a can of Tennents Extra which made a bit of a mess), the snippet of conversation went along the lines of he had spent his t-shirt money on booze and she was not a happy chavvy - bless 'em

Not really what i was expecting my four and a half y/o daughter to put up with in the highstreet on a Tuesday afternoon.

This thread just reinforces everything that is wrong with this current society.

Idiots have no fear of the law /consequences of breaking it.There are too many people out there like this who are bringing up their own kids to behave in exactly the same way/think it is normal.

Not a nice experience but there was little else you could do.

Mind you if he had started anything near my child I'm sure sense would go out the window as would he

On a lighter note to ease the boredom of supermarket shopping this is a cool way to pass the time, my wifes thinks i'm childish but it makes me howl.

Get some tins of red salmon and put them in your trolley, then also get some tins of steak (yes it does come in tins).

Now the best bit, when you see a Chav/scruff follow them until you can slip some tins of the Red Salmon into their trolley without them noticing and then when you see what i would call normal people who would never but Steak in a tin do the same to them.

The trick is to get near to them at the check out.

A: To see if they notice
B: Actually pay for it

The look on peoples faces when they get home and unpack the shopping must be great. The poor Chav having wasted money on Salmon instead of **** must kill them.

How many disabled people do you know, i know at least 10 people with small children and about 3 individuals who are actually classed as disabled.

My point being why do they (disabled) have to have so many parking bays.

They are always used by perfectly capable people who have scammed the car for the use of a disabled relative and drive the dissability car on the cheap, throw the sticker on the dash and away they go.

I bet in 8-10 cases the said relative couldnt even tell you the colour of the car they supposedly have the use of.

You are being very unfair to those who are genuinely disabled. If it ever happens to you you would soon change your tune. Your original post gave the impression that you may actually have jealous feeling towards them.

Of course there are cheats who use their relative's tickets and that is even more unfair because the disabled person risks losing the ticket if the cheating scammers are found out. There also those who decide to use those bays even without a ticket purely for their own selfish convenience.

You won't find many genuinely disabled who are cheating because they do need medical backing to get a ticket.

You have not stated any valid reason for cutting back on the number of disabled parking bays, only for catching out the cheats and hammering them for it.

Les,

To clear up the initial point i was making.

They (Supermarkets) have Parent and child and disabled bays.

Why are there on average 30-40 disabled bays in my local Asda and only 5 Parent and child bays.
Asda themselves are making an issue of people not parking in the correct bay
but they are offering a good number of bays for the disabled and 5 for parents and child.
Why dont they do it equally 30-40 of each special type. Dont get me wrong i'm not Glen Hoddle slating disabled people but if the supermarkets are so incensed by people not parking in the correct bays to the point of clamping then a level playing field is a must.
If they cant or wont then they really shouldnt have a leg to stand on (Not a pun honest)

Equality nothing more nothing less.

As for the cheats with the disabled badge, the badge doesnt have to belong or registered to the driver just the person who has the certified disability.I know of at least 5 people who use the dissability offer to drive a decent car that comes with a badge allowing them to park in disabled bays who have absolutely nothing wrong with them but dear old granny who hasnt driven for 30 years takes what the system offers and hands the car out to a friend/relative.
