Subaru would not be iconic today as it is, if not for Colin Mcrae.

I suggest a grand gathering somewhere central to everyone and include Subaru, Prodrive and all other rally teams. A complete show that is based fully around Colin and the rallying world. He made it what it is and this should be on show to Subaru drivers, rally spectators(from not JUST Subaru) and ANYONE who wishes to go. A show that should be advertised not just on these forums but anywhere....Top Gear, Evo magazine, adverts on TV??

It may be a bit hard to get everyone needed involved, but i feel he's worth it.

Long live the legend.
i`ll second this, maybe another run like the richard burns one as well on the way to this event, scoobies arrive in mass numbers at the same time

Colin is the reason I bought my Subaru, I had the pleasure to meet him briefly whilst he was doing the R.A.C. Rally, He took the time to speak and shake my hand, Name a place where we can meet and me and my Subaru will be there R.I.P. Colin&Johnny
Cheers

A very, very sad day. My thoughts to his friends and family. Words don't cover how much enjoyment he brought for me.
What about setting up a web site where people send a picture of themselves (and their car?) with a message. A sticker is a great idea too to raise money for charity

It is indeed a sad day for motorsport another legend gone
I like the suggestion of the run like we had for Richard Burns which was
in stages, normally 50-100 miles but....
If you want to raise money, your best off giving all the cash you would normally be spending on fuel (as I know that not everyone is rich) to a charity which is supported by the family, so that would probably equate to a tankful of the good stuff (50-60 quid) per person, though that doesn't mean that you can't still do a stage if you want to though we will have to see who can back the person(s) doing the run as it was last time

Woke up this morning to the shocking news about Colin and his 5 year old son. Devistating news.

Colin was the reason many people started watching the WRC all those years ago. Me included.

Colin will always be remembered as one of the fastest rally drivers ever, and as said above Colin McRae helped make Subaru what it is today.

Hard to say anything more than echo all of the above...

For me, Colin was a true hero. A lasting memeory for me was watching him at rally GB in the Ford focus. Being a Fordy myself, he was our boy, on our turf in our car.
Watching him drive was one of the few things that made every hair on the back of your neck stand on end... and proud to be Brittish.

Back in service, it didnt matter who you were. Colin always seemed to make time for the fans. No pre-maddona stuff like the footballers. He was a real guy that was a hero in the eyes of everyone.

I have grown up watching him in awe, then to finally grow up to own my own impreza and go to the WRC and meet him. Talk to the Legend that was Colin McRae was amazing.

Colin,

Thankyou for everything you have given us (the fans)

A father, a son, a brother, a husband... a hero.

Rest in peace fella x

A true legend in the Rally world and also the Paris-Dakar,and the only good to come from this is that legends never die,and for any motorsport fan,its a sad day,as Colin not only drove for Subaru but Ford,Citreon and Skoda, but i suppose his WRC win in 1995,will always link him with Subaru.
As for a tribute i suppose there will be a private sevice for the family, then a memorial service, where i can see Lanark,or some venue getting swamped with Rally/Motorsport fans from everywhere who would want to show their last respects.
I'm sure he will be in good hands though with Parksie on the notes and Burnsie to help out with driving.
Colin may have gone but will never be forgotten, rest in peace mate.

Just back from Lanark!

25 people there from Scottish Scoobies and approx 20 cars.

A fitting tribute was left from us with pics flowers and a special message for a very very special guy.

R.I.P Colin and Wee Johnny

That is a good idea though the organisation and resources would take a year to sort (as do things like the NBO etc) but as last time, area meets along the route for Richard Burns were pretty good

Really touching words Simon, summed up beautifully.

I still can't believe it's true I got in really late lastnight and noticed people discussing the accident on here, but it was very hard to tell if it was confirmed or just people speculating stuff. But now thismorning I know it's true and it just doesn't seem right. It's not fair. Colin was an absolute legend, and this is probably gonna sound stupid but I almost felt like I knew him for some reason. He was such a down to earth & lovely guy whenever he spoke to the tv cameras at the rallying etc. He is the reason I now have an Impreza parked out the front of the house, and I'm sure that applies to a lot of other people aswell.

Nothing any of us do or say can make this better, but my thoughts go out to his family & friends at this very sad time He will be hugely missed by everyone.

It would be nice if we could all do something similar to our cars as a mark of respect. Some sort of black ribbon somewhere maybe? Something that people will see and realise we're doing it out of respect to Colin. Respect that he absolutely & truly deserves

Rest in peace Col, you will never be forgotten

Well said Simon

I find it hard to believe that after all of the stage miles he covered absolutely on the ragged edge it came to this in such a silly way

He was such a talented guy in whatever form of motorsport he put his hand to from motorcross to bikes, rallying to the dakar rally, Le Mans to F1. There didn't seem to be much that he wouldn't and couldn't do. I was looking forward to seeing him at Castle Combe this Saturday and at the race of champions which he always thrilled the crowds at, sadly it isn't to be

My thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.

Rest in peace Colin.

Very well thought out words from Simon (main page earlier).

Something special needs to be done to see this legend off.

This is awful news!
Possum Bourne, Richard Burns, Michael Park, and now Colin. So glad I saw him again at the Festival of Speed. It makes you realise how important those fleeting contacts with your heroes can be.

Thoughts to the surviving members of Colin's family. Lost for words really..................
