Which roads are they Craig? Used to love the drive from wadebridge to camleford, before all the speed limits through the allen valley. What kind of bhp do you expect when yours is run in Sam?

great roads, well remember loosing the back end of a xr4i round the bottom of Gut hill many moons ago. not so great once you get off the main road though. Spent a couple of years driving to new polzeath every day.

not really chasing figures with her but 500-550. Thinking of getting a meth map for playtime. the ultimate aim is to have a run at a few sprints next summer

methanol, so you add 20% methanol into your fuel, it can give you gains of about 30-50hp if mapped up right.

You know its one of the main reasons, money aside, that im not sure about sorting out my bodywork. having to ditch the car in the hedge because some idiot is driving down the middle of the road is an all to regular occurrence!!

There is a lot of scare mongering out there with the whole mapping debate! however to see the benefits of it you would need a remap, and I dunno, i would probably do it just to be on the safe side. How are non turbos to drive? ive got to admit almost complete ignorance when it comes to them, is the chassis different?

Thanks Sam, as i said its far from 100%, but dont think its bad for first try. Got the vinyl online (undergroundgraphics.com), have ordered a differnt one and going to try again when I get hold of another set. Bit more practice and want to do my B pillers, front grille and splitter.

hmmmmmm, might have to have a go at that myself.... looks like the type of thing that could be pretty satisfying. how long were you at it? how hard was it?

Yeah, it is quite satisfying, looking forward to the next go. Took alot longer than I thought it would, guessing about 3 hours ish, taking it slow. Next time I'll use a hot air gun rather than a hair dryer. Its not really hard as such, just need patence and practice and be prepared to mess up abit, there are a few vid clips on youtube to get a rough idea. I used Di-noc this time but I think its abit thick for these parts. If we get to arrange something, I'll bring a bit so you can play and try heating and stretching it.

I wonder how well it would last on engine bay parts? would like to get rid of the chrome in mine and want a carbon look instead......how do you reckon the heat would effect it?

I was thinking of the alternator cover bit, though really unsure now after using it. To apply the vinyl you heat it and the heat allows it to stretch and softens the adhesive. I imagine in an engine it might well kind of 'run off' or just shrivel.

you say that but a lot of people seem to carbon wrap their bonnets successfully, i guess there would be no great harm in trying it

Very true! TBH I hadnt thought of that, like the idea of doing the bonnet scoop too, eventualy. Might see if I can get one of the panels/covers when I try to get the interior bits next week and give it a shot.

yup, thinking of B pillers, not sure of their name but that bits that look like sidelights near the headlights (do they do anything?), the window switch surrounds, the scoop, front grille and front splitter ...... think thats all :s
