An Impreza with DCCD or without what is better for fast safe road driving?

The dccd is 'safe' on fully open.
A non dccd car is idiot-proof and very nice, especially with a viscous rear diff.
Set right you can launch like this:
380 bhp/full racing slicks

Use good tyres is the key to using a DCCD equipped car. If you put hard tyres like the Pirelli's the P1 came with onto a DCCD equipped car, it will be a handfull, in the wet especially.
Half the problem is people are used to cars driving themselves these days, they dont know what throttle control is or how to modulate the brakes. The DCCD-A has sort of given people what they need in an AWD car, it's a good compromise, epsecially the later version with yaw and steering sensors, it's still an understeering pig compared to a properly setup manual DCCD though.
The only thing that will catch people out with a DCCD equipped classic, is in the wet, if they boot it to the point you start to break traction, you can get an instant delivery of torque to the rear wheels only. The answer to this if you are unsure of your ability or the cars grip is to run with a small amount of diff lock, in the dry just switch it to on so the first green arrow is lit, in the wet move it to first orange, that is as much as you will need on the road, have it set at that and it wont do anything unexpected and will drive in a very similar way to a VC equipped Impreza.
The best advice i can give though, is learn to drive properly, take some coaching, people rarely think they need training in how to drive properly, god knows why, even F1 drivers have coaches.

Been away for a few days so haven´t responded - Just driven Northern Italy and Austria (Brenner Pass). Great alpine views and some interesting sections of road
Only impreza seen was a new age sti blob eye with prodrive stickers on it (on italian plates)
Thanks for the replies - has really helped me clarify the DCCD thing in my head. Nice to get a good discussion and not the SN bickering.
Cheers
