I've always thought that patio heaters were a waste of time tbh. Stand right underneath them and your head catches fire. Stand more than 4 feet from them and you might as well try warming yourself by the light of the Moon.
You really have to love this government. They manipulate and lie, and people still fall for it.
They introduce a smoking ban, and tell people not to worry as its good for everyone. They tell smokers that they can stand outside and smoke. Don't worry about it being cold as pubs will install patio heaters.
Now both Red Ken and others want them banned because of their environmental impact. Just wait till local legislation is passed so that you cannot have patio heaters in beer gardens.
You've got to love them

Shall we patent that idea quickly then Lumy?
The green activists would have to help, after all, it's a way of saving their planet that the go on about so much
Would be good for evenings sat out in the garden and no carbon crap to be accused of

We could try, just take a standard garden heater and make a few minor adjustments.
1) Big label (heat proof) to stick on the top of the metal dome. Lets call it a solar radiation transducer (SRT being nice and catchy)
2) Then we need a big label to cover the gas bottle. We'll have "energy storage unit written on that".
I think we are set to go

I think they should be banned simply because they strike me as being one of the most stupidly pointless "inventions" ever. If its too cold outside, put a jumper on, if its THAT cold outside, GO INDOORS YOU FRIGGING MORON. This is the UK FFS, your not MEANT to be able to stand outdoors all bloody year.
As for SRT - I think Dodge have that trademarked

Its the usual bull**** that's being picked up by HMG and others to propagate the great 'global boring' scandal but I have to say its encouraging to see the healthy level of scepticism at this latest event, especially as I'm closely involved in the industry.
So, just to let a few facts get in the way of proceedings:
1. If all the patio heaters in the UK were switched on continuously, they would produce 210 times less CO2 than all the televisions used currently in the UK.
2. On standby mode alone, televisions produce 828,000 tonnes of CO2 each year which is 37 times more than patio heaters.
3. A tumble dryer produces 134kg of CO2 per annum - four times that produced by a single patio heater at 35kg.
All these figures are from the government's own calculations but the problem with this survey by the EST is that it promotes their own and the government's agenda, and that is to tax the hell out of us for their own ends.
But as I said, to the ill informed and gullible its far easier to pick on an emotive object such as patio heaters rather than televisions or mobile phone chargers, to re-educate the masses into believing the government's propaganda.
The last time figures such as these came up they were uttered by a certain MP in Parliament, who when challenged on the source of his figures eventually admitted that he'd got them off a mate down the pub - I kid you not. And these people are ruling us?

It is really sad that the political system we have allows facts to be spouted forth that only prove your own parties agenda. If only these people could be help up to account in some way. Saying that the voters are capable of doing so it just nonsense. Most people do not have the time or inclination to study all of these things that are said to them.
Supposedly the press presents a nice balanced view. However, they have papers to sell. For just one example follow the coverage on house prices by the Daily Mail over the last few years. One second they are massively up, next second they are crashing. They can never make their mind up really, its just all about selling papers.

Television - the bringer of news, entertainment and (admittedly only a little) education, let alone the displayer of my Xbox 360.
Patio heaters - heating up the outdoors for people too weak or too stupid to understand that you should go indoors when it gets too cold outdoors
Mind you - I did notice that my neck of the woods, the east of England, have the lowest sales of patio heaters in the UK, while Yorkshire, the supposed bastion of Northern Toughness has the highest. Just goes to show that they're just a bunch of nothern wimps who can't handle the awefully cold outdoors or know how to build a bonfire.
