Its getting a bit technicolor on the User ID pane
Its times like this when I wish my monitor had colour controls
Tempted to revert back to old skool SN, but the full width doesn't work on that anymore.
So Technicolor or tall-n'-thin, hmmm
IMO, of course

I quite like the cars, but not so keen on the logo bit as along with the extra stripy bit for members/members+ and any other logo it does start to look a bit
Perhaps the ability to turn off one or the other and vice versa, if you get what I mean....
i.e. user cp options:
View Avatars - Yes/No
View Logo's - Yes/No
Another thought, is the members' buttons.. like the Scoobynet Plus button, could not the member/members+ have their own button rather than the stripe? So that'd be different buttons for: Full members/ Orange Club/ Scoobynet+. Obviously there would have to be 3 versions of the Scoobynet+ button that incorporated the different permutations of membership for those that have more than one type.. I see it as (in descending order)
Scoobynet + Inc. Orange Club
Scoobynet + Inc. Full Membership
Scoobynet+
Orange Club
Full Membership
Thinking about it the model logo's could be incorporated in a button too perhaps..
I know it's all extra work, but I think it would look tidier.
Some rough and ready ideas.. obviously can be tarted up by someone who can use photoshop or whatever properly.
That kind of thing... anyway I'll get me coat!

You can now turn the model logos off as well.
FYI : A grand total of 12 people have turned the scooby avatars off!

Hi Swampster
The thing is, the Full Member Upgrades, and ScoobyNet Plus membership are two totally different types of service, so it wouldn't be right to combine the badges.
The stripe will blend into the background in no time. I bet the "Full Member" blue icon, and coloured usernames stuck out at first, but you soon get used to them
The whole thing takes up a bit less room now as well.

Did someone say something is taking up less room?
I like my blue bar, noticed it immediately. The orange text for me is hard(er) to read, makes it harder to read the name of the person posting. Forget about that for now unless others mumble...my brain is slow to adjust to these things

It might just be me (I think my laptop hates my wireless router for some reason) but the Scooby model diagrams take ages to load because they're made up of all different little bits.
I suppose it won't be long before they're all in the cache though.

Guys, small bug noticed
I have selected Hawkeye in my user CP with a high spoiler, yet the pic comes up with a mid spoiler, did send a mail but spotted the note about reporting it here.
Oh and any chance we could tint the rear windows?
Thanks

My Forester has melted, the only thing left is the wheels
<-----------------
Phew - it's come back - thanks webby !
(And the wheels have gone gold, I'm not sure what's worse !)

This has nothing to do with the new layout.
The search had to be removed from general access due to the massive loads it was placing on the servers and slowing the entire site down.
The speed has increased considerably since this change.
It is still available to ScoobyNet Plus members, or to anyone who has upgraded their account to full member or full member + (or actually anyone with a club badge).
So there are options from as little as £2, if you definitely can't get what you want from the google search.

Sorry Shaun,
I,m at a loss, i understand the need for banner advertising, and much as i hate them, (there the equivalent of junk mail) i,m prepared to put up with them, i could block them, but cos i use SN so much, im going to leave them.
Now for the neggy bit
The new layout looks like a two year old has been given a box of shapes and told fit them into this space....
if the new layout was all singing and dancing and going to maximize the SN experience, why do i still have a dead strip 3" across on the right hand side of my monitor? and yes youve turned of the old style page despite giving us the option to use it
When i hit a forum it starts off wide with a 3" strip of dead screen, then jumps to full page (thats what widescreen monitors are for ) then jumps back to a 3" dead strip.
now thats hardly maximizing the available area is it
If only 12 out of the fabled 20,000 used the old system, why should it be some much of a problem to leave it running? if it was say 49 /51 using the old style then fair enough, but 12???
Do you work for Tesco,s by any chance, or have you been on their training course for layout, (keep moving things around to keep the punters in longer )
I would have thought that by keeping SN stripped to the bare minimum, would have a better results, a basic no frills package, The site sells itself by reputation alone
whats the old adage "If it ain't broke, don't fix it)

I love the site but i hate the ad's so i may have to invest in something to remove them. But i have to agree with the above post in some of Mart's opinions. The site is obviously heavy on the upkeep side of things so you have to make a revenue somehow to offset what it must be costing to keep the site up and running and then maintained.
So being as i dont have any superb ideas to tell you, it looks like banner ads it is then! LOL.

Morning mart
Thank you
Could you please take a screen shot, as it may be that the formatting has gone wrong for you, as this is quite the reverse opinion of the majority / the design consultants we been dealing with. Everyone is entitled to opinion, but the insults are really necessary mate. Lets make sure you're seeing the site how its supposed to be seen first.
That's very peculiar behavior. It is becoming clearer that there is something wrong with the way you're displaying scoobynet. First of all, this "dead strip" should have an advert in it, so you are probably blocking this ad, and this blocking is probably causing other elements of the site to be blocked which will probably cause this weird layout you're talking about.
As for the jumping around, and full screen, not full screen, etc. Again, who knows. But this is absolutely nothing we can affect or control.
Try to appreciate that we know a lot more about what's involved in all this than you do (apologies if that sounds patronising, but re-read your post if you feel I'm being unfair! ) and this comment highlights it the most.
It takes JUST as much work to look after a page that is visited by 1 person, as it does a page that's visited by 30,000 people. So the entire issue was us spending all that time looking after a site that was only used by 12 people. It just wasn't worth it.
Everyone had the choice, and out of the 15,000 or so people who actually logged into their accounts and had the choice during that time, only 12 elected to use the old style. This says something to us.
Again, sir, and respectfully, this just illustrates that you don't understand what's involved / how to run a site like ScoobyNet. I wish it were that simple.
Your complaints appear to fall into two categories.
1) The layout is dreadful.
2) Why change it at all?
well, in answer to those :
1) I think its your system which is messing with the layout, as most people seem pretty happy with it.
2) Things move on. I have explained at the start of this thread why the changes were necessary. If they just don't seem like important reasons to you, then you have to, for a moment, consider that you don't fully grasp what is required to run ScoobyNet - which is no surprise, as there is no reason for you to have to know this.
