COILOVER SUSPENSION SET UP GREAT PRICES
Ive been using our Impreza a fair bit recently and Im still more than happy with the suspension set up on the majority of roads. Id still defo go softer for serious over the moors back roads but for the general A and B roads that I normally blat round on theyre working out just fine.
Bren,
You mentioned earlier greasing the threads before fitment.
Wouldn't grease just act as glue for a load of road muck, and anyway just wash off through the winter?
With my old (teflon coated) D2's I left them dry, but cleaned carefully with WD40 before any adjustment. Worked well for 2yrs.
Not sure how best to proceed with the Apexes...
(fitting in next week or two, having avoided at least some of this winter's road crap)

Tell me it isn't so!

Theyre similar but theyre hardly £480. £480 on the other side of the world maybe so plus import duty, vat and handling charges:
£480
Plus duty £499.20
Plus vat £610.03
Plus handling charge £630.03
To end up with a product from an unknown supplier on the other side of the world with the non existent back up that brings with it.
VS £486 from a UK supplier. I dont see the problem.

Prooably, Ill ask the manufacturer
Do you know the chassis code?
Its not pot luck, you pay import duty and vat on every incoming shipment, no exception unless its at a value of less than £18. The only time customs dont charge is when goods are illegaly smuggled in with a false invoice that undervalues the product.
Thats tax evasion.
I run a legitimate company, I dont get involved with tax evasion. Of all the authorities that are out there in the UK you really dont want to screw with the vat man.
A like for like comparison is fine, using illegal tax avoidence to drive prices down and then doing a like for like comparison isnt. I dont care what you lot do with your invoices when importing but you cannot fairly run a comparion with a legitimate UK company on the same basis.

ok point taken not sure I appreciate your tone, but I have never asked a foreign company to doctor an invoice so not sure what you are trying to imply there however we will leave it there for the sake of liable.......
Would a fair UK comparison be this uk based company selling them for £590 delivered? no group buy required......

Lots of international suppliers automatically mark down the value of goods as its no skin off their nose if the recipient gets nailed when the goods arrive. Doesnt change the fact that its defrauding the tax man as a means to reducing or effectively eliminating the tax bill so saving 22% over the true, legitimate cost of the goods.
Any product over the value of £18 is subject to import duty and vat. Thats the long and short fo it. If youre not paying the tax then thats tax avoidence through one means or another, be it instigated by yourself or the supplier in country of origin.
So someones selling coilovers on Ebay for £590, whats the relevence? Theyre not ours if thats what youre trying to say.

sorry i thought they were the same they are very similar they look like they could come from the same chinese factory...
My point of all this is group buys are supposed to offer heavy discounts if I can take a very cursory look around and find imports for virtually the same amount including tax (in reality probably slightly less including all taxes), not negotiating any group buys then I expect a group buy direct from a supplier to be able to substantially beat it not just match a none group buy price.......
Its not having a pop at you but its always the same the supplier gets all defensive, rather than saying maybe i should be switching suppliers if my GB prices are being matched by someone who can ship them half way around the world for the same price.

Our coilovers arent manufactured in China.
You found a set of coilovers at £630 with tax vs our full retail of £645. The GB price we are offering is £486.
If you dont like our prices then dont buy from us, import from New Zealand, avoid the taxes and pay £500 with handling charges. Or £630 if you get stuck with taxes.
We will continue to supply at £486 in the mean time.

The coilovers on this group buy have a 25% discount compared to retail making the normal ones £486.75, not £650.
The full name of my company is Apex Performance Parts Ltd, Apex for short.
Ill not resort to trading insults.
EDIT: Looks like you wont either.

Hi Bren
Got the coilovers fitted last weekend on my Subaru based kit car which I came up and collected midweek, They went on with no problems and appear to be great quality, Had the geometery set up mid week and have had a fiddle with the rebound adjusters and the car is handling great, The solid crashing ride of the previous coilover set up has gone
, Just wondering how much a pair of the '3' rated rear springs would be as it would be something I think maybe worth trying as there is no weight to speak of over the backend as it is just space frame and fibreglass body.
Cheers if you can help with that
Dave
