The CSL which did the 7min 50 was done by sportauto. Their laptime was faster than that of the BMW test drivers.

Lets wait for sportauto to reveal the R8 results in their next issue so we can compare laptimes with both drivers.

All I will say is that the audi test driver lap times are faster than that of the CSL time

Just don't mention Dynamic Ride Control...

Audi are gonna have a revolt on their hands if they don't sort the DRC issues on the RS6 soon, your average RS6 owner is not the type of consumer you want to upset, yet upset they are.

Oh....and guess what system they use on the RS4 (of which there will be many, many more on the road to go wrong.)

Over 70% of owners on RS246.com polled had DRC failure, including me. Twice.

Well, if SportAuto laps the R8 faster than the BMW M3 CSL without it bursting into flames half way round, then well done SportAuto. However, whereas the M3 is a £58K coupe with its top speed LIMITED to 155mph, the R8 is an £80K mid-engined sports car with no speed restrictions. So despite all the boasting about Audi's 'ring laptimes, I merely pointed out that the cheaper M3 CSL, despite its 155mph speed limit, is currently faster than any production Audi.

My opinion is that if I had £80K to spend on a car, I would get something more special and bespoke rather than something from a mass market manufacturer.
