I think the 2 favourite ones I've seen are the Red and Gold Tissue boxes/Spice Boxes you get on the back shelves of our Asian friends Nissan Bluebirds, and the glorious Wooden steering wheels you see on things like Nissan Micras to give it a bit more class.

Think I've been working in London too long.

Trust me I've seen all the quality mods in the city/suburbs.

Spotlights that illuminate the rear axle (to show off the dirt and grease?) and those neon lamps fitted around the perimeter of the car and light up the ground (to give the impression that it is a poorly disguised alien spaceship that will lift off at any second?).
I'm also rather partial to those louvred rear window covers that you used to get in the 80's (to restrict your view?).

Neil.

Markus,

Was thinking of using them to illuminate my glove compartment actually, think it'd be ideal

Cheers,

What about the escort owners who have rearranged the letters on the back of the car and added a "d" from "ford" to spell SORTED !!

Seen a couple recently and found it amusing.

How about things taken way to make it something it's not? like de-badged Beemers so you can't tell a 316 from a 330....(except for the alloys, the spoiler and the exhaust pipes.....)

I've never seen anyone debadge an M3!!!

Anyone remember a few years ago, when the trend was for putting a big 'TURBO' sticker on the back window? Good for 50bhp.

Back in the 80s my dad had one of the last shape Cortina's, it didn't have the window grilles but had a huuuuge aerial, like 8 foot long. So big in fact, that it came with a clip to attach it to the rear of the car, forming a large arc. Wicked

I think he also had some of the white windscreen wiper louvre thingies too, that were standard equipment on Cortinas. Pure class.

I saw the funniest thing the other day...ok wait for it. A blue neon light on the underside of a scooter, ha ha. I bet he thought he was setting a new trend.

Saw an Avensis SR yesterday with Blue Anodised drilled fake rear discs. bwahahahah. they were no more than seven inches across, and gleaming new. Either they, or they've just started making transparent aluminium calipers.
Driver was about fifty five - old boy - racers eh?

we used to have a silver trans-am with the firebird on the bonnet and red and black chequered pleblon interior. horrible or what? i thought it was the most awful thing ever, and was made up when he sold it. until he told us the reason for selling it- a brand new black trans-am, complete with firebird and- wait for it- brown and beige chequered pleblon interior!

The CD from the mirror is supposed to reflect radar guns. Can't see it working but know a few lorry drivers who do it too.

On holiday in Pattaya , Thailand this year I saw a slammed peugeot 305 with full bodykit , blacked out windows and big bore exhaust . I nearly wet myself laughing especially since it was still in its original awful red/maroon paint colour that all 305's seem to be painted . Unfortunately every time I saw it I didn't have my camera with me , so no pic .
In Alanya , Turkey last year all the young boy racers were driving Fiat regatas with big bore exhausts , alloys , etc.

Don't laff too much guys, but I used to have one of those aeriels on my first car (Hillman Imp) - it came with it, and fell off about a year later. Didn't bother replacing it...

Down in deepest Dorset on Christmas day .... I spotted a lowered Cavalier GSI 16v.

The car had been finished off quite well with maahoosive alloy's, superb paint job and a DTM exhaust (not that I like DTM exhausts)

The thing that caught my eye was the Impreza bonnet scoop. This thing was not just stuck on, put properly seated in the bonnet. You could not tell where the scoop met the bonnect. It was a top job.

However .... The draft sod had put a mesh grill behind the scoop. The holes in this grill were so small that I doubt a small bug could of got in, let alone any air!

Still .... I suppose it was better than the Halfords stick on scoops'

I was in a local car park the other day and I saw this Saxo VTR with the usual mods on it when I walked past the back of it and seen these two sets of twin pipes on the left and right hand sides of the car, each of the pipes must have been 4" ovals. I didnt want to check it out by getting on my hands and knees and looking underneath but I thought to myself hes gone to some trouble there messing with that. THEN......

Two days later driving over the local bridge on a really cold day this same Saxo drives past and when I took a look at the exhausts only one side was letting out the frosty fumes of the cold air, it looked really daft. He must have paid £300 for the other one and just bolted it on!!!!!

Well, some people seem to get things the wrong way round. Saw an old D-reg BMW 323i - but for some reason it had been debadged and had Peugeot XSi badges on the back!!! WHY?
