Its ridiculus the government thinking they can tax us on the odd bit of money being made on ebay
In my case its generally a loss, as the stuff I sell is stuff I paid full price for new, and some years down the line I am now selling
I paid tax on my earnt salary, and paid VAT on the goods I bought, pay VAT to ebay etc, paypal fees postage etc etc
I have made a loss, so I should claim a tax refund lol
If / When the government start taxing ebayers, I think it will be time to go down the old car boot and sell stuff there (all cash no record of any transactions
)

)If you are making a loss cos you're just getting rid of old stuff then it's not a problem, if however you are buying cheap stuff and bunging it on ebay to make a profit that you aren't declaring it's no different than anyone else who's evading tax.
It's then all down to whether you've used up your personal allowances on any other income and how much you make over a year.
Just because it's not your main employment it makes no difference, you still pay tax on profit.
