Need help with which Pickup truck to buy
#31
Sorry to bring this back up... looking for a truck for work use. Will have to carry quite a lot of stuff - prob almost upto max weight on a regular basis.
Is the Navara still the one to go for, for this kind of work?
Will almost always be on road / lanes - only off road every now and then.
Ta!!

Don't forget that the Navara is very very big.
Wife's grandparents had one for a few months and it was bigger than their LC Amazon!
They sold it because it was just too awkward to move around despite it being very nice to drive and use.

Hi chap,
I have an old shape Navara, (04) It will (and I do!) tow legally 3 tonnes and still carry 1 ton in the pick up back, gross train weight is just over 5800kg from memory, the pickup weighs around 1800kg.
New navara can carry about the same but towing limited to about 2.5 t.
Not that wide but very long pick up, does around 25-28 mpg and thats with towing most days.
I went for the double cab but they definately cost a premium over the single cab.
I think the new shape Navara "king cab" with the smaller suicide rear doors and flip down seats would be a winner but only from a work bias.
Oh! and in rear wheel drive is more fun on a wet island than my old P1 ever was... ... but the rest of the time it just handles like you've strayed into a big fat teflon mattress field...
All in all definately a work vehicle, hope that helps.

Right guys we are looking to buy a new Pickup truck but cannot think of anything better nor can we decide between our final two choices.
Initially I had thought there were plenty of pickup trucks made by various companies but the only ones that are good are Japanese which isnt an issue but just odd.
The 3 decent ones we looked at were the Nissan Navara, Toyota Hilux (aswell as the Intimidator) and the Mitsubishi L200 Warrior.
Obviously we give the Navara a big boot but cannot decide between the Hilux and L200.
The L200 was voted Pickup truck of the year 2007 but Hilux has a legendry track record of how good it is.
Money is not too much of an issue but if you guys can help me decide on which one we should go for or even if you have an alternative suggestion please post
cheers

best pickup for me is the isuzu , not rated here because in the uk its about image not work horse,
the L200 i had did 200000miles with ease, and was still looking good, hilux cab was too small, engine poor
navara, didn't buy one, they like to eat engines
the isuzu 2.5 or 2.8litre was the best lump, 3.0 bad
cab can accomodate 4 /5 adults and get 2 1300cc motorcycles on the back
and 25+mpg was quite easy to get,
bit different than the ford/mazda , ok but greedy on fuel:

Funny you should say that - our current POS at work is an Isuzu Trooper 3.1TDi and its a brilliant tool. Its got a very good spec (for a 94!) and its done 205,000 VERY hard miles. The only thing that does not work anymore is the folding mirrors.. amazing considering the treatment it gets.
