Why are all the bees dying?

someone told the bees the good old tale that became 'fact' in the early 1930's and some still believe it true that their wings couldn't support the lift required to get their weight and shape of the ground.
They all just sitting in the garden now kicking back!

There are some wierd things going on, but are they connected? I think we should be told
There's a strain of hornet that's attacking bee colonys' at present, they're 'super hornets' and are attracted by bee honey, they are impervious to bee stings and can kill a 1000 bees per hornet before they become to weak & die.... so 10 hornets can wipe out an entire colony!

Isn't it only recently the weather people started to get it right 
I remember growing up as a kid they never could get the weather right, what makes you think their statistics are any different

Just take the met office forcast site and check out what it thinks the weather will be like in 7/10 days time. Then check it for the same day every day. Funnily enough you'll see it change most days. Last Saturday pm was meant to be rainy when I checked at the start of the week. It was only about Thursday that it said it would be dry (was off to a BBQ).

It seems what is being bandied about as 3 degrees warmest temp ever for April (10.8 ºC) is actually 3 degrees warmer than the average temp in the Aprils from 1971 to 2000 (7.6 °C). The previous record was in 1943 and the temp was 10.2 °C.
So we can surmise, TaDa!!!!!...
64 years ago the average temperature in April was nearly as hot as it was this year (0.6 ºC lower) but in between times it has fluctuated a bit with an average of about 3ºC lower in the years 1971 to 2000AD!
- Not quite such an impressive headline!

On a related topic, in the current edition of Private Eye magazine, under "Down on the Farm" it appears that the Food Standards Agency have persuaded Ofcom to ban television advertising for honey, on the grounds that it is contributing to the epidemic of obesity in Britain's children."!!
Something on the lines of "100g of honey contains 100g of sugar" - thus it must be bad. They fail to understand that not many kids will sit and eat an entire jar of honey in one sittings (or find huge amounts of it in their coloured fizzy sugar-water).
On similar lines, Ofcom have banned adverts for Marmite - 'cos that contains sugar as well. Can't see many kids (or even people) smearing an inch-thick layer of the stuff on their toast (you either love it or hate it) - but why let facts get on the way
Actually, maybe there is an explanation - i bet that DEFRA (the Department for the Elimination of Farming and Rural Affairs) are enforcing an EU directive that all livestock (bees included) be individually tagged and passported, and have imposed movement restrictions in case they contract BSE or Foot and Mouth or something
