people moaning about my exhaust
I had an H&S jap style backbox and although I liked the noise and loved the style it just started to get to me - and its not even as loud as a Nur Spec.
I hate my neighbours so quite frankly if they came to complain the noise would be well worth it.
I went the other way with my nipper. I was concerned it would hurt her ears so that was another reason for taking it off. Don't get me wroing I do like loud exhausts and miss mine from time to time but I've got a TSL Grp N and much prefer it.

my car came with a cat back Nur Spec; was embarrassing driving it tbh.
a quick trip down to H&S and I brought a full decat with a resonated centre section with an origional H&S scoobysport rear makes the car makes a nice noise without taking taking the pi55

where i park my car most of the time, (privert car park) the people in the houses next to it are not happy form what i have found out today.
i was doing some work on my car, and started it up for around 1min max, about 5mins later a lady came around and said she and other people were fed up with the noise that my car makes, and a couple of people have taken my reg etc.
i all ways drive solw into the car park etc, as it is down a very tight lane/entrance.
what should i do, what would you do?
it is a classic with blitz nur spec r with decat down pipe
thanks

then he should keep it. As long as he's not taking the **** (Revin, silly hours etc) then they've got to put up with it! Simple as!I spent my hard earned on my scooby & luv the way it looks, sounds & performs, why should i have to tiptoe around so other peolple are happy
(& im not)
Easy to spot who's gettin on in this thread.
I have a 3" H&S with a resonated centre section, and an oval back box....all designed to keep the noise down. IMO it is no louder than a Prodrive BB, but even so, I am told I am referred to in the street as 'the one with the loud exhaust'

All down to personal opinion mate. If he likes the sound himself,

In practice, I don't think this regulation is enforced that often, but having a really loud exhaust increases the chance that you'll get your collar felt by the fuzz for "taking the p*ss"
Does anyone know what the outcome of the above case was??

Unofrtunately mate, anyone with a loud exhaust is potentially on thin ice as -if I recall correctly-there is a regulation that states that you are not permitted to alter the manufacturers exhaust design in any way which increases the volume of the escape of exhaust gas. Someone fell foul of this in Scotland with a Prodrive exhaust (which is about as quiet as aftermarket exhausts get!!!). There was a legal battle about whether Prodrive additions should be regarded as manufacturer design, as their work is officially sanctioned by Subaru UK. However, A Blitz Nur Spec certainly isn't!!! Nor are countless other makes of exhaust on here!!

One of those "we're not sure we'd win" situations. Imagine Subaru having to take back PPP off all UK Imprezas? :O
Depends how/when the car was type approved or whether it was imported. Dunno if SVA specifies a maximum for exhaust ambience

From: Kent in a 396bhp Scoob/Now SOLD!
I had a similar thing at my old house when I used the car every day for commuting. I would open the electric garage door at 6.15 and drive quietly as I could down the road.
Things were fine when I had an original Scoobysports (H&S) back box, but when I fitted a Firestorm the car developed a sysmic pulse at tickover and was waking next doors baby everytime I started it.
I put the old back box on, sold the firestorm and everyone started smiling again. Next door moved, the new neighbours were pertol heads so I bought a H&S jap spec (Not as noisy as the Firestorm, but noisier than the one on the car).
No more issues.
I think the issue was that the Firestorm was just TOO loud. The fact that the kid was woken up, was a side issue as other people who before never said a word were asking if I had a new exhaust. With the Jap spec back box replacement, there were no negative comments.
It all depends on how you get on with your neighbours, whether they respect you and what you are doing to fit in, within reason.
