Why apologise? Someone got cocky, acted like an a** and got his backside handed to him by a faster car that he'd underestimated.

The lesson is: no matter how quick you think your car is, there are always bigger fish in the sea!

FWIW I had an EVO 260 up my backside the other day, reving his engine, two passengers gesticulating madly for me to get out of the way....quite where I was supposed to go was anyone's guess!! To the casual observer, my Scooby is a std turbo with mudflaps. NSL road reached, foot hard down and annoying evo is a distant memory. I couldn't help but grin!

Guess he didn't figure on my somewhat lighter car having 320bhp!

Conversely, when I first got the car, I ran into a Cosworth Escort. He has 220bhp as std, mine was std with 215bhp; should be a good contest I thought. We both smiled, waved and put our foot down at the same time and...... lets just say he won convincingly!!

Ya never know!!!

Er, I know! It was a coincidence that I also ran into a scally in an Evo, not an indictment of the car!

My point was that you never know what someone has under the bonnet, someting to bare in mind when you think you should be in for an easy victory!

About 100kgs lighter than a standard STi (and about 100kg heavier than my old classic)... plus I'm a relatively lightweight driver (about 10.5 stone) ... and I always take a **** before I go for a drive .

Mine runs just over 250bhp/tonne excluding the driver

Boys and their toys, thats what they are for.

Not me: 6 foot. The wifes a bit of a dwarf though (and fortunately never reads this forum) ... had to have her TT lowered so she can reach the floor.

If you have a standard STI you are going to get whipped by a 260. Thats final.

Come come boys show a little restraint! "Scoobs" really aren't that quick you know? And if you ever pull your heads from up your backsides then you will realise that there are far better, and far far quicker cars on the road. Old rally slags have had their day it's a brave new world out there, embrace the change. And for those of you who can only answer my critique with one liners of very limited grammar skills, I know of a very good school where you could learn a excellent command of the English language.

Are they not that quick really? Means as there are literally thousands of cars for sale in the same price bracket as the impreza, could you list some quicker cars that cost roughly the same please. (and also the name of the school specialising in english language, i might do a nightclass)

I often wonder at this??

This is the Scooby Net.

There is anothere Marques Section on SN.

Why do other Marques come on the General Section and, have a go at Scoobs?

But most importantly, why don't they join their own Club & Log on there?

Confused From Worcs???

Well, you certainly appear to require it!

1. Lets start by listing cars that cost the same to, a. tax. b. insure. c. run. d. service as a Subaru, that will no doubt cut the list substantially! Also, once the benefit that AWD gives to a quick launch has been negated, there are ample cars that will keep up with and pull away from AWD cars due to the extra weight, transmission drag of the system. For the sake of argument lets call it "in gear" times? Times which are a real factor in the real world!! Why not do a little (HONEST!!) test yourself? My lowly Astra will pull on a stopwatch, a 3rd gear 30-50mph in 2.56 secs, and 40-60mph in 3.24 secs, with very similar 4th gear times over the same increments. These figures tell how easy the car can be driven quickly on public roads day in and day out. Times which are extremely useful in the cut and thrust of everyday motoring on our crowded roads. Insurance with mod declared is a mere £246.00. Excise duty £135.00, and the car will still return 48mpg! Next time you have a minute try your Subaru and let me know the times. Can you really justify for the odd occasion you can "beat" someone from the lights lugging around all that extra weight, consuming all that extra fuel, paying all that extra money for insurance? Think about it.
2. Never start a sentence with brackets!!!! And if you must then at the very least start with a capital letter in the brackets as you have started a new sentence!
3. When using the letter "i" to indicate oneself, it is is always a capital letter.

I am sure a well known troll will be along soon and tell u that your Scec C is only a chav charriot and only old Porsche 944's an Renaut Clio's are the best and owned by much superior beings too far up their own butts to know much else

nrn

p.s. like Scoobs, Evo's Porkers and a lot of other cars and yes, these marques attract chavs and ****-ends as well

Misty, I am in no way questioning your figures (financial or in gear) but is your car actually any fun to drive? I'm guessing at around a 2000rpm power band and maybe 5500 redline
IMHO there's no such thing as a oil burning sports car.....
As you are also so keen to point out the reduced costs involved with diesel ownership am I right to guess that, money no object, you'd rather be in something that made a decent noise and didn't pour black smoke out the back?
I have a 1.9D that I use for work and yes it's economic but dull, dull, dull...

Sorry... feel asleep reading that, who cares how quick a diesel astra can do 30-50mph. It's a vauxhall and a diesel, is it a van also? That would top it off nicely.

Does it have the VXR 'kit'...

Tony.

I'll be quite honest with you matey, money does play a part in my choice of car. But what plays a much bigger part is the fact I can drive where I want to drive, park where I want to park, day or night without the fear some ****** breaking into the car, or worse the house for the keys. You only have to read the 100's of threads regarding those issues on here to know it makes sense!

Tone.
Have you been peeking at my motor? It does have a kit on!!! Vauxhall kindly fitted it prior to me buying it! Sorry to disappoint it's not a van. You seem to forget I have the privilege of seeing both sides of the coin having owned both Evo's and Scoobs prior to the diesel.....
