It's better for oak and some oily woods. Linseed oil takes longer to dry, I think.

I've only got one more strike before I'm out. You may love what's happened but I find it stifling and threatening. Style thoroughly cramped, ta.

Very impressive. I've always preferred working with metal but this makes me want to pick up the chisels. Awe-inspiring.
Please keep the updates coming.

Bubba , I think you'l find that none of us are 'loving whats happening' , but theres been changes in the hutch for whatever reason that webby sees fit. I fully undertand your reasons for not wanting to have the bling *sorry*, Badge but its your decision.
general consensus is that the hutch in whichever guise be it normal or super, is now a livelier and more happy place to be ..
For once, just swallow your god-damn pride, bit the frikkin bullet and shake hands..
you know it makes sense

I'm piddling about with surface detail, now, simply because I can't decide whether to carve straight through in the mouth area and do the teeth completely in the round, or whether to leave some wood at the rear to keep the dark contrast that allows the teeth to be seen clearly.
There's still a fair bit of whittling to do.

You've said some downright nasty things in this thread, and you know it.

Good, will the wood be capable of supporting itself if you do carve straight through in the mouth area? Wasnt that where the big knot was?
Has being away from it for a week, not brought you back to it with a clearer final view to how it will be finished ?
Still its damn impressive

Absolutely. If I carved right through and stood on the nose end, I reckon it would still support my 15
1/2 stone weight.
