Engine in yet Rob?
Seems to be taking ages to get this season off and started!
As to the above, first I've heard of it at Loton.
Not sure if we need more competitors, but agree with the last 2.
Any info/news on the Audi V8?

No Idea about the A4, I guess all the drivers and machinery will be confirmed on the 26th at Prescott, everything is just speculation until then.
I think the motors tv coverage is done by brayspeed.
Brayspeed do some very pro films. Lets hope it is a wide spread report, and not just for you Fast Ones!
Plan is to go to Olton Park on 20th to view what I hope will be my next direction, but if that falters, then will ask for a pass-out and pop over.
Curb is under serious housing development threat due to a new Eco Estate being built all over Fradley, and a smelly noisey car race venue has no place in such a scheme.
Sign of the times?
I am sure you will be balistic!

There are twice as many in C2 as there were last year and there has been a mass exodus from C1, so instead of C2 not being able to get max points like last year it's us in C1 who can't so the Midland champs are out of reach before they have even began which is ****.
I don't have the spare time to do the leaders, it would require time off work for travel which I simply can't do for now or in the forseeable future. I will still be going to harewood, epnyt and barbon though to try and master some new hills.
I won't be out in the Impreza on the 20th at Curb' now, another change of direction has seen to that, it will be worth it though. Weather looks awful so I can't say I'm too bothered.

You can't escape Graham!!!
Classes C1 & C2 merged for Shelsley on the 5th....big power shootout indeed.
800bhp A4 and Keith Edwards new spec shorty, GT45 running well over 2 bar!?!?
If they stay together it will be some spectacle.

And if it rains, watch-out for Geoff and even ME!
Kumho's in the wet are stunning I assure you!
Been to Olton Park today to see my 'next project' race. I just might be on the track of a historic to restore and race. Even Trish is (almost) approving!
Really looking foreward to Prescott and Shelsley; at lest the battle will begine.
I think Kieths car will be too laggy.
However, the merge of C1 and C2 will make some think...it was the way it was 6 years ago when we were all road going!
I will enjoy watching you all chase the pack from my 230bhp/tonne deck chair.
It's going to kill me, but I think I made the right decision.
IMPREZA FOR SALE! (seriously)

I think Keiths car will be too laggy as well but thats not really an issue at Shelsley, it should be fun watching him coming up the finish straight, and trying to stop after the line!
I put a few hours in at Zen today properly sealing the fire bulkhead and trying to make the damaged rear quarter look a bit better, Paul was busy on the engine and it's looking really good.
Tried for size my new switch panel which looks and fits great.

More updates soon!

Buttons to drop an oil slick and nails for the A4 wacky races style.
Actually lights for the 2 switches below which haven't been fitted yet.
I'm also looking forward to Prescott very much, I'm in for a shock after 7 months of diesel driving me thinks.
I'm still dissapointed with the turnout for C1 though and hope it improves through the season, what happened to all these secret competitiors who were coming?
Had a goo dlook round my Dad's car after some replica decals had been fitted and it's finaly upto its full potential after a midweek testing session. expect it to be 10-15mph faster through the traps at shelsley.
The best looking car ever?

Pretty much spot on Rob. I am always green with envy at your Dad's and Keiths Shorties.
It hurts more when you hear them too...
So, just where are all the heros who were coming in to show you how it is really done?
Seems a lot of hot air around at times.
Shame to see the C1 take-up. I think some more will come in after Shelsley.
We have a frantic 3 meetings ahead!
Hope your 555 bhp/tonne will be ready for Saturday!

Very nice job.
Did you get rid of the yellowing at all on the side windows?
The decals transform a bland form into something special.
My 911 is going to look a plain-Jane next to this work of art on Saturday....

PLEASE do not say that!
I loved my Impreza in the wet on Kumho's but the 911 was/is absolutly frightening in the wet....
But at least you will be there Rob. Geoff is in with a good chance?!
If you want Rob I can bring my P1 wheels with Marangonis 1A's on later on Sat morning.
Let me know asap.

I look forward to seeing the car go today and over the season.
No need for me to be afraid
I'm coming off Snet now so I don't get tempted to do the same to my sleeper.
Been good fun while it lasted!
Good luck Rob and all Impreza racers!
Graham.

well on the pace watched from the sidelines, totally sorted car made it look easy, making me think about getting an ra and going that route! mine is just to heavy. Youve built a winning car there paul great job!!
I went up to Zen on friday about 6pm to see how my car was getting on expecting an all nighter and it wasn't there, it was all built up and on the dyno.
30 mins later back it comes and Paul tells me it made 491bhp and 473lbft of torque, at 1.6bar! Much more than I was expecting and combined with the big weight save from my winters work my first test drive around the industrial estate was quite something, the car spools so quickly and all hell breaks loose on full boost with power right through to the redline.
Everything we wanted to do on the list Paul and I came up with last year was done and the attention to detail is just excellent. I will do a full report with proper pics next week...when the box is sorted.
I could tell how much lighter the car was straight away as towing was a doddle compared to last year.
My first practice run although cut short was impressive, straight from the launch it was apparent this is now a very different beast, pulled a 1.8 64ft time in not ideal conditions and just got through the gears at a crazy rate. Through the first left hander grip was really good and the extra stiffness of shell due to the cage is very noticeable. The AP brakes, now fully bedded in and with 100kgs less to stop nearly popped my eyes out, then spool up out of the hairpins was much improved on last year setting a very impressive split time. Then a slight hitch, coming into the final corner on the shift from second to third......no third some very dodgy crunching noises then no gears at all, not even a neutral just a stuck gear lever.
Not really a surprise, but as time was very tight and money even tighter just to get the car out there we stuck with standard box hoping it would last if only for a short while until we could source something more suited to the power figures and at the right price.
I'm obviously dissapointed but I would rather get it out of the way now and just get on with the rest of the season, the car has shown so much potential already and I think it can be very competetive everywhere. Paul has already sourced a new box to get the car out for the big bank holiday meeting at Shelsley next weekend where we are merged with the modified sports cars.
Some finishing touches up at Zen.

Cutting a bit of a lonely figure, my stricken car, it will be back very soon.

It was good to see everyone again and it's going to be a great season!
Pete has some video which I will post up if he ever gets up and answers his phone.

What ratio 'box are you using Rob? I've got a spare early RA 3.9:1 front diff one here...(bought it for the DCCD, which I'm keeping!) I know it's not a strong, but I might be prepared to let it go cheap...you never know, Having a spare with you may just save the day
Thanks for the offer mate but my RA box lasted about a minute with 473lbft, so replacing it with another would be pointless, we are going for something more substantial, fit and forget for the season.
