As many on here have said.... whats the problem ?
Nobody releases a car until the funds have cleared and a bankers draft takes anything up to 7 days max..... so he has two choices.... wait 7 days til the money has cleared or do a bank transfer which normally shows up in your account within half an hour, but they only guarantee that it will be available by close of business that very day.
So again where is the problem..... I think you would be mad to rule out any potential buyers.
Simply.... give him his two options.... let him make his choice.... and inform him when the cash clears.....
I'd say your in a good position. I'm from northern Ireland myself and have bought many cars from the mainland over the years..... even paid for some without seeing them too so I don't see a problem..... but then again its your call !!!!

i come across this topic on a search from google.
sadly i would join this forum but i own your arch nemesis the evo lol.
but im getting a bankers draft from the republic of ireland. specifically the bank of ireland for a 4k camera.
she tried to send it by bank transfer. took 4 days to reach me even though she told her bank to send it via there equivalent of our fps (faster payment service in the bank within 2 hours thing) and it was suppose to be with me next day.
when it did reach me 4 days later it got returned because she had put my ebay user name not my actual name. overall it took 2 weeks. to go from her bank to mine and back again
so now she has sent a bankers draft. think im going to cash it at cash converters or cash a cheque or something like that. then wait another 4 days for it to clear.
my question was. if anybody else had recevied a bank or ireland draft and cashed it. and any problems. or taking a draft of any kind to a 4rd party and cashed it.
