MENCAP 2007 Calling
We are up for the lodge and will be there. I can only see one problem with the mounting plates for the classics, as the front number plate sits back under the front bumper so top of the mencap plaque will not fit under. Looking forward to the pre Mencap meeting though.

Good meeting tonight guys
.
BIG thanks go to FlatEric for the amount of time he has commited to organising routes / schedules etc and the mounting plates
. Very much appriciated mate.
As food for thought regarding the routes etc on the day, as an idea how about "volunteers" coming forward to take the lead. The difference being is that the "volunteers" only do one part of the over all route.
Furthermore this allows each volunteer to pay more attention to their individual route section and come up with more inventive ways of getting to "their" check point (finding minor roads etc). Once at their contol point, the next volunteer takes lead.
If adopted and once everyone knows what section they are doing, with a month to go, there is plenty of time to research your route and make the day REALLY enjoyable. Plus, your route has to be kept secret, treat it as a magical mystery tour if you will. Good thing about this method is no one else will know if the leader is lost
.
This also puts less pressure on one individual car / crew to take on the whole day to plan and allows a bit of variety in the running order. Plus allows the lead car to "drop back" on the next bout and be a follower and enjoy the scenery without having to worry about what turn to make next.
In any event, the CarPc will be programmed with the waypoints and Control Points, so if it all goes wrong, we can quickly get back on track by GPS

Just a thought anyway.
Yes, i will be a volunteer as i came up with the idea !!!

Radios are sorted, has 5 available at the moment, just sourcing another 3 which he can get during next week.
They will each come with individual charging stations, possibly a few spare batteries and they are good radios. I'm sure i still have my throat mic somewhere
.
This is what they look like and saves us £15 odd quid each, might have to sort my mate a drink out though
.

I'm going to ask that we have them ready at the beginning of May, that way if there are any unforseen problems it can be solved in time.

Those radios look well up to the job. What sort of battery life do you get with a mix of standby & transmit rather than mostly standby?

Hi Folks not being affiliated to any area club, we would very much like to join up with you for this event, having previously done the last two and know some of you from the days event (Tiny and Ade & family).
But due to work having to miss out on most of the evening fun by leaving early previously.
I have this year managed to book the whole weekend off so looking forward to this very much.
A worthy cause and a terrific weekend.
We have also booked the Halfway House hotel for Frid & Sat. so again looking forward to meeting some of you then.

Anyway, the wife and i wear fancy dress nearly every day of the week (no perverse comments please). So i appriciate the opportunity to wear normal clothes once in a while !!

Yikes that means Jess
If this is what people want to do it might be an idea to start a list so people can put their name next to the section that they want to take the lead on.
Halfway House > Sparkford Shell > Check Point 2 Lead by :-
Check Point 2 > Yeovil Way Point Lead by :-
Yeovil Way Point > Check Point 5 Lead by :-
Check Point 5 > Check Point 4 Lead by :-
Check Point 4 > Lufton College Lead by :-

Good idea Mark
Or.........we could post the names of those who want to volunteer and it could be names in a hat to decide their route with the watchful eye of an official adjudicator (FLAT ERIC
