Cheers for a great day out guys (Those that arranged) fantastic location, I decided to take the senic route home, spotted a little sign saying mountian road and turned back to take it. My god what an awesome road, Had to dodge quite a few sheep mind you but well worth it.

Heres a couple of shots I stopped to take ont the way, taken on camera phone.

This shows the road I had just come down, this side of the river was a series of 180 degree monte carlo style bends, 2nd gear and hand brake city!!!!!

This road just followed the valley and was like a roller coaster: bumps, jumps and craking corners

some more of above

Theres a road in there somewhere, I'd just traveled down it!!!

And a few shots along the way:

That's the road from Elan Valey to Devil's Bridge and is a supurb driving road (I know as we use it for our MWS run)!!!

Great day guys, but disappointed that 30 odd cars dropped out??? What happened there??? Where was Kev and the other SWS lot???

Not to put a downer on the day, however... NO THANKS to the antics of one or two people ragging it up and down the hill where we were all parked (you know who you are, I believe you are from the MIDS group), it looks like we won't be able to use this area for parking again.

If you want the full details please PM me, but it involves the local farmer and a very unhappy Elan Valley Head Ranger (who we were meant to get permission off in the first place).

Thats the one rich, awesome road, a bit narrow at times but very nice to drive on.

Thanks for all the hard work arranging it.

I'm sorry to hear the farmer wasn't happy but I thought on the whole everyone was pretty well behaved. I can see where you were coming from with regards to ragging it up the hill though

As for the ranger, surly they can't stop you parking in a public car park??? does everyone that uses that car park have to get permission from the ranger??? This was not a cruise or an illegal gathering but a picnic.

Everyone that I saw drove with respect for other road uses.

Is an awsome road, I think I had all 4 wheels off the ground last time I went down it, some bits just catch you out at no speed at all!!!

Sadly Danny, the Elan Valley Ranger has full premission to kick us off site as Elan Valley is a Welsh National Park not a public area. The car park area, toilets and facilities are all owned by Elan Valley and we do indeed have to have permission to have an organised meet like we had (I was not aware of this).

Unfortunately, we got collared when we called into the Elan Valley Visitor Center on the way home (where the Ranger is based). He was not bothered so much about the meet (apart from not getting permission), it was just the fact that the PUBLIC dam road was being used as a 1/4 mile drag strip by one or two people.

I will just comment that everyone I saw coming and going from Elan Valley were on best behaviour and I thank everyone for this and the fact you took your rubbish home with you.

I am going to see the Ranger at some point next week to try and smooth things over, as it is in our interest to allow meets like this to continue.
