I have 7 scooby's signed up on the MWS forum for this event to add on top of the 36 odd cars coming so far!!!

Kev, you have been to Elan Valley before, haven't you??? For starters I have no idea where you are going to park 40-50 cars, let alone get 40-50 cars around Elan Valley in the first place...

LOL, I'm not trying to put a downer on the day, but the last Elan Valley run MWS did had 11 cars and we struggled to get around in one piece!!!

I am well up for this as it will be cool as ****, but it's maybe just something you need to keep in mind as I'm sure there will be a fair few more who will want to come yet...

Visiting Elan Valley

this a map of area i do this run a lot in summer on bike parking is tight

cross gates services is a godd meeting point popular with bikers and plenty of parking then drive over to dams

TBH, alot of people coming from North, West and Mid-Wales would have to travel 25 mins out of their way to come back on themselves to Elan Valley again. Also, I don't think they have the facilities to hold 50+ cars? Maybe if it was a quiet weekend it might, but this is going to be bank holiday weekend and it's gonna be packed there...

The Elan Valley Visitor Center will be off limits, as it has about 30 car capacity and there is only one area I can think of which might hold all 50+ cars and that is by one of the remote dams (Claerwen Resevoir on your link). There are toilet facilities there also and it is a good place to have a mass picnic...

What is the plan for the day?

 

The plan is to meet up around 12 - 1pm have a drive and then have a picnic/BBQ. I think

Date... Sat 5th May.
Location....The Elan dams near Rhayader in Powys.
Time..... Looking for everyone to arrive between 12.00 - 13.00 HRS
The plan....... Lets get as many scoobs together as we can, everyone bring picnic , bbq etc for the afternoon .

i will go up tommorrow take the beast out for a early morning spin
will take some photos of area so we can make up our minds on site

You will see what I mean on the reccy tomorrow and just remember, it will be quiet there this time of year... In May it will be heaving...

The biggest problem you will find is oncoming cars when you are trying to get 50+ cars around the Elan Valley route... Some places are very narrow and I can imagine getting past other cars will be a nightmare, especially if you get some OAP's who can't/won't reverse!!!

If you have a spare 30 mins, come and look me (and the 22B) up in Newtown (SY16)...
