for one you can drive carelessly at 20mph moron

and if you refering to my accident, you can still drive at 100mph down a straight part of the road until you come to a badly judged corner, by the time brakes have been pressed, you skidded past your turn in point and then gone off the road, along a bit of dirt and then finally hit something, quite a bit of speed can be scrubbed off. you don't need to be driving at 30mph to hit something at 30mph unless your asleep

Your point is what? That circumstances are different in each collision? That the facts aren't known outside of the collision investigator's office yet? That any of us could be in the same position through bad luck, a momentary lapse in judgement, a fluke of physics or some combination of the three?

This may have been the answer nobdy can remark on this accident without the full facts, but sadly i don't think we will ever know I just fill so sad for the guy, being trapped in a smashed vehicle for 3 hours is something I can relate too, but I came away in tact, although be it I smashed my leg, knee hip ankles and i had to learn to walk again, all thanks to a drunk driver

Irrespective of the cause, we should all feel sorry for the guy. To lose both legs must be earth shattering. His life will obviously never be the same. He will live with the results for the rest of his life. Have some sympathy for Gods sake, there's little in some of these posts.

We dont know the cause of the accident, what speed he was travelling or anything. To easy to jump to conclusions.

I agree with the comments above and as someone whose job is to manage and investigate serious and fatal accidents can equally say I have seen a car into a tree at under 30 where the young lad in the passenger seat is no longer with us! The car was totally destroyed.

RB5SCOTT - Without full knowledge of the incident your comments are ignorant to say the least and show a lack of care for any human being that is sadly predictable in modern society.....

I also find it sad that there are comments such as this on a site for Scooby enthusiasts - what does it say about Scooby owners .... you just don't seem to get this on other forums to the degree it is evident here . I think unfortunately that says alot!

Most of us, Correction I speed on occasions, always have always will, I like to think I do it with a certain degree of caution and care, bet this guy felt the same. I can’t imagine (or least don’t want to) losing both legs in a car accident.

think this has gotten out of hand a bit. Im sure RB5Scott didnt mean to be malicious about this although it did come across that way, however if the thread was "car thief wraps car around tree and loses both legs", the comments by people on this thread would be totally different I have read comments before on car theft threads where people have said that they hope they crash and burn to death and I have read about losing legs as well.
Seems to me like a lot of people have double standards.

Hope the person injured makes a good recovery from the other injuries and has the support of family and friends to help him through

It's obvious you don't have the full facts, as others have said, it's avery poor generalisation and a cheap dig IMO.

 

Has anyone noticed the press and police in inccidents like this often issue intial statements passing judgement before all the facts are known. It seems in this case however, they do not do this. I wonder why.

 

It does not matter who was driving the car, or what make it was ,or whether the road was clear or not, or whether there was ice or snow or water on the road, you have no right to make a wild assumption as to the cause of the crash.

You had no evidence about what actually happened to cause the crash and therefore whatever you said was pure conjecture and cannot be taken as evidence.

This was a bad accident and the poor bloke has lost his legs. As a young man that is a terrible thing to happen although it would be awful at any age of course. A bit of sympathy might be more appropriate!

Until you actually know why the accident occurred, you would do well to avoid shooting your mouth off and also making such an offensive post anyway.

There were enough people ready to blame the Hamster for the dreadful crash he had during his speed record attempt. Just like you they assumed he had got it all wrong when we now know that is was a front tyre failure which was the reason.

You would be wise to learn the lesson from that.

My mum knows this guy involved and he swerved to miss an animal on the road. He's in a terrible state so please think about what he is going through.

 

Off but sort of on topic - i had a 30mph incident recently which wrote off my supra, hit a coach on the wrong side of the road (him not me) on a blind corner so you can do a lot of damage at low speeds. Hit it wrong and its quite easy to not walk away.

Resever judgement on the cause until the full story is known. All the biddies on the bus got off saying it "must have been my fault going too fast in a car like that" luckily i had several witnesses behind me to say otherwise!

I would swerve to avoid a horse, maybe a dog, but definitely not a squirrel or a duckling. The potential consequences are just too severe.
