There was very nearly a new next gen version ![Frown](images/smilies/frown.gif)
Still one of my only regrets, but if my current venture goes as well as I hope it will, it will happen one day!
Here is an old old interview I did a long time ago...
Interview: Interview: Bitmap Bros spills on Speedball Arena - ComputerAndVideoGames.com

Let's hope the venture goes well. I'll bankroll you if I actually ever win the lottery

Manic Miner
Total Eclipse (bit like Elite, but for the Dragon 32)
Boulder Dash
Donkey Kong
Xenon I && II (in fact pretty much any Bitmap Brothers game)

Did you ever see the 'free' updated version we did for PC Format magazine?
We supplied the source and gfx and they ran it as a 'code your own game'
It was still in 2D but with all-new 3D sprites, and new weapons and maps. I'll see if I can dig it out as it;s essentially freeware.

The Bitmap Bros games on the Amiga were things of pure class. Xenon II (my first Amiga game), Speedball 2, Alien Bread, Chaos Engine, Gods (fecking hard!!) to name a few. Which was the one with the Bettyboo sound track? Magic Pockets I think?
The game I spent the most time on in those years though was Geoff Cramonds GP2, that man is a genius.
Oh and I was obsessed with Robocop on my Spectrum +3![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)
Loads of class games people have listed, I'd forgotten about a lot of them!

I've still got it somewhere, but with one thing and another I've never gotten around to playing around with it properly. Writing c / cobol / mainframe business code pays the bills, but it's nowhere near as much fun as coding a shoot-em-up. When you've been doing it all day though, it's hard to get motivated to do it all evening as well...

Laser Squad Nemesis - only game I've played constantly for over 3 years now. Superb stuff.
As to the older games - used to love Lords of Midnight and Laser Squad on the Spectrum.

Awesome Golf on the Lynx was, erm, Awesome! ![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)
Brilliant machine, better than either of the other two that were out at the same time, but like everything else since the 2600 anything associated with Atari, it never took off.

"Let's play Awesome Golf" ![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
If I remember correctly, wasn't that one of the first handheld console games to use sampled sound for the effects?

Portable pc engine was one of the best handhelds, streetfighter was amazing on it.....gamegear on the other hand must be one of the crappiest !
I remember paying for my megadrive on import, think i payed about £300 !!!! and bought streetfighter and starwars for the super famicon for £90 each !!!!....mad ....yes !!!!!
Even bought a panny 3do brand new, and they were some stupid price.
Jesus, i hate to think how much money ive spent on gaming !
If i hadnt of bothered i would prob have a life and loads of money ! :-)
