This country hasn't been Great for a long time now ,thanks to scumbag politicians. We once had the best sportsmen, engineers, inventors, pioneers in every field ,renowned all over the world for heavy industry.(stop for a second and actually think of the world changing inventions etc. made by Brits)Now were just a politically correct nanny state with no backbone, who even take orders in Europe from countries we once freed during times of war.

Yes ,you can be guaranteed ,there are many real "Great" Brits turning in their graves today at the state of this country.

Good to see you know the words:

When Britain first, at heaven's command,
Arose from out the azure main,
Arose, arose, arose from out the a-azure main,
This was the charter, the charter of the land,
And guardian angels sang this strain:

Rule Britania!
Britannia rule the waves.
Britons never, never, never shall be slaves.

Rule Britannia!
Britannia rule the waves.
Britons never, never, never shall be slaves.

The nations, not so blest as thee,
Must in their turn, to tyrants fall,
Must in ,must in, must in their turn, to tyrants fall,
While thou shalt flourish, shalt flourish great and free,
The dread and envy of them all.
(Chorus)
Rule Britannia!
Britannia rule the waves.
Britons never, never, never shall be slaves.

Rule Britannia!
Britannia rule the waves.
Brittons never, never, never shall be slaves.

Rule Britannia (with pronuciation singing guide)

When Britain first, at heaven's command,
Aro-o-o-ose from out the a-a-a-zure main,
Arose, arose, arose from out the a-azure main,
This was the charter, the charter of the land,
And guardian A-a-angels sang this strain:

Rule Britannia!
Britannia rule the waves. Britons never, never, never shall be slaves.

Rule Britannia!
Britannia rule the waves.
Britons never, never, never shall be slaves.

The nations, no-o-o-o-ot so blest as thee,
Must i-i-i-i-in their turn, to ty-y--yrants fall,
Must in ,must in, must in their turn, to ty-y-rants fall,
While thou shalt flourish, shalt flourish great and free,
The dread and e-e-e-e-nvy of them all.
(Chorus)
Rule Britannia!
Britannia rule the waves.
Britons never, never, never shall be slaves.

Rule Britannia!
Britannia rule the waves.
Britons never, never, never shall be slaves.

You say "you cant [sic] be english [sic] anymore [sic] cause [sic] it offends all the races"; quote two words from a song which you feel demonstrates patriotism and get 50% of them wrong.

The intolerably low standards of education displayed by the indigenous Englishmen within this thread are as much a testament to this country's wavering greatness as our increasingly diluted cultural identity.

anyone remember this one

LAND OF HOPE AND GLORY
Dear Land of Hope, thy hope is crowned.
God make thee mightier yet!
On Sov'ran brows, beloved, renowned,
Once more thy crown is set.
Thine equal laws, by Freedom gained,
Have ruled thee well and long;
By Freedom gained, by Truth maintained,
Thine Empire shall be strong.
Land of Hope and Glory, Mother of the Free,
How shall we extol thee, who are born of thee?
Wider still and wider shall thy bounds be set;
God, who made thee mighty, make thee mightier yet.
God, who made thee mighty, make thee mightier yet.
Thy fame is ancient as the days,
As Ocean large and wide:
A pride that dares, and heeds not praise,
A stern and silent pride:
Not that false joy that dreams content
With what our sires have won;
The blood a hero sire hath spent
Still nerves a hero son.

I was going to post along similar lines, but you've summed it up nicely. Shame the "English" won't see the irony.

my oppening paragraph and reference to the song are two different things.

i mentioned the song as britain is in the words find me a song with the u.k in it.

as for english things offending people that is true flying the st george cross is frowned upon, people changing christmas to winterville and other ridiculous names, everyone knows this once great country has fallen and is well and truly down the toilet and it aint coming to resurface.

another point for being british, i have a british bulldog not a u.k bulldog

p.s i dont have a skin head and my hands dont scrape along the floor

What's written on your passport? The United Kingdom of Great Britain & Northern Ireland. British is the usual shorthand for that. English/Scottish/Welsh is a subset of being British and we are all citizens of the UK. It annoys me immensely when foreigners call the country England when they mean the UK.

GB, run by Scots ....................

Now that brings up a point, they have some level of devolution in Scotland and run their own affairs, so should Scottish and Welsh MP's have a vote on laws that just affect England?

Great Britain refers to the largest island of the British Isles, England, Scotland & Wales. The United Kingdom is the political union of England, Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland. The British Isles is the geographical name for Great Britain, Ireland & all the smaller islands like the Isle of Man, Isles of Scilly etc.

As in the West Lothian question. Probably not, to be honest.
