Fake notes
It just does not feel right to me.
Oh and it is illegal, and the height of chavism imho!

It's actually not much to them either but the real issue is they don't want a foreigner getting one over them. Westerners never win in Thailand or most other Asian countries for that matter.
The guy is a retard. He tries to excuse his behaviour by saying something profoundly deep like "had a litre of voddie tbh m8" as if this in some way makes it all alright.
a) He doesn't drink litres of vodka. 2 liqueur chocolates is probably closer to the truth.
b) He doesn't know "murderers wot got away with it".
c) He doesn't mix with his local underworld (n.b. 'underworld' not to be confused with pondlife and local vagrants)
Neither does he have anything to do with counterfeit banknotes or any other criminal activity.... save for perhaps tealeafing the odd handful of pick 'n mix from Woolworths or trying to force a washer into a vending machine for a packet of posh w@nks.
'Jonno_johnson', a product of panda shandy and too much Grange Hill.

The trouble with fake notes is you can only shift small numbers of them in any one town at a time. Businesses that deal in cash will keep each other informed if a large number of snide notes are doing the rounds.
Also, fake notes were overused in Canada to the point that almost nowhere accepted $50 (roughly £25) bills. Bummer for the people who ended up with fake notes they couldn't shift. Unless a new $50 note has come out since 2005, they are probably still not accepted anywhere.
