Would have thought as soon as it ships, or before, we'll see iTunes 7.0.3, as it's not something that'll greatly enhance iTunes per-se so a major revision number wouldn't really be needed.

Looks like they are going after blackberry's market too! All we need now is a GPS Add-on, and appropriate software, and it'd allow for satnav too, now that would be perfect.

Yeah, I thought that as well Rich. I'm guessing that's just the normal cell phone triangulation type thing. There is some service over here called, dotz, or something like that, which allows you to see where your friends are. both parties have to agree to it, but you'll see a dot where your mate is, well, your mate's phone.

4GB $499
8GB $599
US in June, Europe by Q4 2007, Asia 2008.
Hmm, not at all impressed by the capacities. My library is 60GB at the moment, and granted I don't need all of it on there, but 8GB is a little limiting for music, let alone video.

Hmmmm, tbh not sure how much bigger you can get from solid state memory, you'd complain if they stuck a heavy 60Gb hard drive it in, double the size of the thing too

Good point about the size, which does limit the capacity.
As for the capacity being above and beyond what the OS uses, good question, guess we'll know for sure in the next couple of days.

New Airport Extreme as well, which didn't get much if any mention in the Keynote.
Am guessing there's going to be a special event in the next few months for 10.5 as there was no mention at all of it at the keynote.

Yup the Keynote was dedicated to the Apple TV and iPhone.
They have been working on Leopard as there have been a couple of seeds since WWDC, both for client and server, but certainly any new "top secret" features aren't in the builds, nor is it using the alleged new interface that we may see in Leopard.

On subject of size (all in inches)
iPhone:
Width: 2.4
Height: 4.5
Depth: 0.46
iPod 30GB
Width: 2.4
Height: 4.1
Depth: 0.43
iPod 30GB
Width: 2.4
Height: 4.1
Depth: 0.55
Of course there is probably a fair bit of internal gubbins in there that means a lot less room for a battery and hard drive, then again, the 30GB iPod is roughly the same size, and the 80GB isn't too much bigger. Perhaps we might see hd based ones in the future?
I'm sure we'll see what is inside the case once ArsTechnica gets their hands on one.

Well, rumored release was June 2007, so I'd say probably March sometime. Unless they are holding off until the next WWDC, but that'd be quite a wait.
Usually they are pretty good at giving developers some heads up if there will be significant changes, and that's not happened so far.

The phone look AWESOME!
I lov ethe interface....must try one out. As a PDA, 4 or 8gb would be okay for me. I only have a 1gb card in my mp3-playing Sony Ericsson and my iPaq.
be interesting to see what price point (subsidised?) and who they partner with in the UK. Quite a bit of 'unrest' from the forums I'm on that it is linked with Cingular and not unlocked.
But Iwhere is my Mac Mini C2D and Leopard?

leopard is coming.....dont worry. as to the mac mini well I will let markus fill you in on that..he seems to be in the know, more than me
no subsidised costs on the phone, 2 year contract, full cost of the phone. The reason is, they dont want to dilute the ipod cost. If you bought an iphone from say vodaphone and they subsidised it, why would you want to pay for an ipod???

10.5 is on it's way, hard cold fact (got a parition on my desktop called Leopard_Dev, can you guess what's installed on it ) Guessing any annoucement about it would have overshadowed AppleTV and iPhone.
As for the Mac Mini, well, I'm guessing that there is going to be a special event, possibly march/april time where 10.5 will be mentioned, probably the top secret stuff revealed, along with the release date (probably June/July 2007), and there may well also be new machines announced. Core 2 Duo for the consumer machines (Mini, Macbook and iMac) and Core 2 Quad for the Mac Pro and Macbook Pro, or possibly even 8 core Mac Pro desktop.

Hmm the phone looks nice, but I wonder how quickly it'll get scratched and start looking tatty. Trouble is that being a touch screen you can't use it in a case, and it'll get plastered in fingerprints the first time you use it. I'm wondering if this might be a case of design over practicality...

I use my XDA Mini S in its case all the time, it does have a screen protector stuck to its own screen though, something that people will do with the iPhone.

Will the iPhone touch screen work with a protector on though (it doesn't work with a stylus remember)? Besides, I think sticking a lump of see-through plastic onto the front of it will make it look ugly. Sort of defeats the purpose of having one...
