Not surprising that Billy Boy has stood up for her since his son was sent to a school selected by him as well.
I suppose to be fair, she does want to do what is best for her boy and she is going to pay the £15k annual fees although she could claim that back if she wanted.
Doesn't say much for the standard of teaching for special case children provided by the government though!

Tony says that for him it would be impractical to cut down. Sounds fair enough to me. He is far more important than the rest of us after all.

Yes, good on her for putting her childs needs first, but she is in the advantaged position of being able to afford private SN education for her child, where a lot of other people aren't.
If the school was failing her child, then there will be plenty of other SN children that and other schools like it are failing too. They all go on about inclusion, but it doesn't always work out best for the child.
There are a lot of people who need these schools for their children and the LEA refuse to fund them to enable them to attend. Maybe she should rethink the schooling system.
From my own personal experience, all inclusion appears to be is another way of a school getting extra funding which is supposed to be used on the child (like 1 on 1 support etc) but gets used elsewhere as well. My son has SN, but the head told me that he will not help me until I have official written diagnosis. The be all and end all of it is that they're not interested unless they can get a few extra quid out if it.
That is why so many schools that support i nclusion are failing so many SN kids.

why is anyone surprised here, nl make a mockery of every policy they come up with and they think throwing millions of pounds at anything will solve all, look at the nhs, record spending but people getting fired and hospitals closing go do the maths oh you could if the schools taught you properly

What they say is that they want to make state education as good as they can (whether they have is open to debate obviously), they have never said don't send your kids to private school.
If you cannot afford it, then they were trying to make the education your child got the best it could be. If you can afford it, send 'em where ever you want!
It's like saying she has to buy a Skoda instead of a Merc because she shouldn't be allowed to enjoy the rewards of her position because she's in govt.

It's old labour that were against private education.
New Labour is all about policies that work rather than political dogma restricting what gets done.

Why do people still associate skodas with poor people?
Labour just isn't labour anymore.Whatever people say,it still is exercising a wealthy privilege.
Only went to prep schools then comprehensive.I know which system is better in all respects and I wish I could offer the private system to my kids.
Mind you,if all schools had the power to discipline properly and kids didn't run schools as opposed to teachers they would be a better place.
Why can't anyone see this lack of discipline and respect for authority is at the heart of it all? (Ruth seems to)

If teachers cannot discipline children any more and so few parents take any interest in their own childrens' bad behaviour any more, you are on a hiding to nothing in most State schools.
I was lucky enough to go to a very good school because of the 11 plus exam which was instituted by Atlee's government, in other words Old Labour, and I have always been grateful for that. We were a financially poor family. My parents made enormous sacrifices for me and my sister so that we could get a good start in life and they also made sure that we understood the meaning of good discipline and respect for other people.
