Very nice install scoobyman95, have considered putting a setup in my wagon but i think the weight penalty would be too much for me, here is a speaker setup i had in a old Transit van that i used in the 1995 sound off season and won all 8 events i entered it got a max of 149.6dB from 6 x Cerwin-Vega 18" subs running off a single 50 watt Soundsteam amp
#32
the weight is not that bad it is all built out of light weight fiber board from the us it put an extra 100lbs on the car the only real difference is the back end steps out really easy now witch is fun to drive I am changing the subs next week to the JBL 4000 watt comp ones it should be awsome £600 each so it wanna be????

The Soundstream amps were rated at 25 watts per channel at 12v to compete in the low wattage sound off class but generally they were about double that, then you could bridge them which is how a run it and then load them with as many speakers as you wanted (6 in my case) and they would not complain also if you got more voltage (say about 14v) they would pump out even more watts

I understand, and I do know!!!
Just upped the voltage on mine and wired it how it should be (now the sub is run in) and my ears are still bleeding.
What a way to spend a sunny saturday!!!

[QUOTE=scoobyman95;6615382]Right you want a loud system I have over 13k in my scoob I have been to five shows and won all five> It has 8100 watts 161db thats right she goes like hell is Has 16 speakers 8 amps all are JBL I have been contacted from them to do a photo shoot. Here are a few photo's It has a ps2 a xbox 360 2 screens plus a avx2 deck 10 disc dvd changer and 12 disc audio mp3 changer .
161dB, somehow I dont think so with 2 little subs. There is probably only a handfull of cars in existence that could achive that sort of SPL.

I can't see how the hell you're getting 161dB out of those 2 JBLs maybe a typo
Look forward to you proving me wrong
BTW your system does look very nice even if it is/isn't pushing what you say

I will keep it simple. you will find the more expensive the amps the less watts they claim to achieve. the cheaper the amps the more whats they claim to achieve. You run a good genesis sm60 (baby amp) and just see what sort of sound you will get from it compared to a normal japanese amp claiming same power!!
Its about the "Power" behind the watt.
Also they Bridge down better. so a small 50 watt amp can run more than 2/4 speakers and give out some serious power if set up correctly.
Thats it in simple terms !

Professional ICE demonstrater cars/vans with a plethora of amps and subs, usually struggle to achieve more than 150dB.
Remember being 3dB louder is doubling the sound (in theory)
161dB from your install from what I can see in the pics is not possible. If so you will be able to get a job as the BEST in the industry.

I think people are greatly confusing power and "cheater amps". A watt is a watt is a watt, and if you think you can tell the difference between a watt with "power" behind it or not, grab yourself $10k in the Richard Clark amp challenge.
Differences come in when you start pushing amps IMHO... A good amp with generally still sound acceptable when pushed, a bad amp will sound poor. If your gains are too high, you're eating into headroom and relying on the amp not disgracing itself when too much is asked of it.
The old soundstream amps, particularly the class As, were designed with the IASCA amp ratings for competition in mind - the ratings are taken at 12v into 4 ohms.
Most extreme example of this is the Class A 10.0 - rated for IASCA purposes at 25w x 2, however put a 1/2 ohm bridged load on it (8 4 ohm subs) and it'll do 1,000W - 20 times its "rated" output. I have one running my sub
If you've got a competition 161dB from that, wow... That's incredible! A mate competed in 1995 in the under 300W (Rockford cheater amps in his case ) novice with "just" 4 rockford power 15s and like Granby managed just over 149dB as a season's best. All the same, it's a very, very nice looking install

my killer spl install will soon be completed hopefully by next month, DLS ultimate A6 powering a monster RE XXX 18inch subwoofer in the proper ported box, and guess what im going to post the certificate up on scoobynet as soon as i get the system tested on a proper db monitor scoobyman95 any chance of getting a look at your certificate because i had 4 10inch rockford HE2's which are competition spl woofers and i only hit 140dbs, this was using a dls cad11 amp and yellow optima battery as well as a powercap, they were wired down to 1 ohm to squeeze every db out of them, in my old sunny gti i had 2 mtx 8500s in the custom box running off a hifonics brutus 1500rms amp and i hit 145db's with that, those were JL and L7 killers and i still cudnt hit over 150db!But im almost very certain to hit 150 or over with my new RE and DLS install...

JL Audios are anything but cheap subs, they have a repuatation for quality second to none, not really sure where you are coming from. Also PPProb's install looks pretty well put together to me.
