cool...hope i can get mine that high one day...how much extra did you get using the nice fuel over shell or whatever?
I got 420 on vpower with 400lbft but want more, maybe cold air induction or better intercooler needed as im running about 1.8bar to get that
Race fuel was Sunoco GT Plus which is 109 RON.
Went from 455bhp and 415 lbft to 504bhp and 486 lbft - very good increase
Terry, don't do it, anything but a Gems, even a Simtek, bit not a Gems! Speak to Pat about a Life Racing Ecu, or there's a Motec coming up soon on 22b, off Anders' wagon

Terry - how did the exedy organic hold up during the year with your various activites/power levels?
Duncan, I had 2 exedy organics. The 1st one was fine at the lower power level (380bhp or so). When I had the upgrade to 450 I went with the more aggressive exedy organic - again this was fine, but the clutch was very grabby - felt like a paddle clutch. I was only running about 410 lbft torque and it was ok, but I think your 2.5 could end up with a lot more torque - which would be the limiting factor of the clutch.
A lot cheaper than a twin plate, which I have now - but also not as nice to drive on a daily basis - horrible when stuck in traffic, etc - the exedy twin plate is much better.
thats really impressive was told you can only get 450bhp on standard cams iam abit happier now i suppose every set up is different really enjoyed your rightup nice one you say you done your first 1/4 mile but didnt mention your time what was it thats mainly what iam using mine for iam running in www.prostreetdragseries.co.uk

Did the organic ever let go (aside from hard launches)?
100% agree when i had my car built to its present state was told box wdnt last the rollers and mapping so ppg it was the difference in box alone is amazing good luck ....
I got gems for sale in next week or so if you interested of my 98 sti
Dr Frank
I have standard heads, cams, pulleys on my sti5 and can reconfirm that they definately achieve more than 450bhp (and thats on non-race fuel). They will go over 500bhp with race fuel
Gearbox should last a mapping session with that power/lbs - It wont last more than a couple of track days at best though
PPG Helical seems fine - it copes without any issue on the Track, a little noisy but not something that is instrusive - expensive - YES
thanks for info good news i have already got ppg gearset in my gearbox just havent used it yet waiting for turbo and then get back on track after newyear .Have to make twisted up pipe going gt35r reverse inlet 2.3 engine steel rods race bearings steel rods ported heads front mount dccd gearbox with electronic controller just a little list to give you an idea of what iam a upto
what r u hoping for then terry and r u running in anything this year.Iam hoping for around 500bhp this year go cams and pulleys next year for 650 700
Your plans for next year are mine for this year - another full season of Time Attack and numerous trackdays and a few trips to the Nurburgring. i don't know the full spec as yet, but will have full headwork carried out with uprated cams/ valves, etc and a new turbo, ECU, etc.
It is currently having a full weld-in rollcage fitted - can't wait to see it when it gets back mid Jan
