Nightmares, was late getting to the dealer. Also cracked the windscreen of the RS4 on the way there!
Luckily he didn't check over the RS4, so I was saved the bill. Didn't leave till about 3:30 though and got stuck in the mother of all traffic jams!
Must admit it's nice to be back in a porsche, they just feel so very right!
Then the fog set in, temps got down to freezing, and driving a rear wheel car again made things interesting!
Had to then stop off at Dart Tag HQ to get another holder (mind had attached itself to the RS with something as strong as concrete) which then got me stuck with all the bluewater / lakeside traffic, dartford bridge a13, mixed with the fog was a great combination.
At the point the petrol light came on, so had to queue at Lakeside for bloody ages trying to get fuel!!
Remind me not to pick a car up the Friday before christmas again!
Eventually got home, and into the garage, god it's so much smaller than the M5 and RS4, I don't need my 'guide lines' to try and help me in!
So can't report much at this stage, interior is much nicer than 996, feels planted on the road, unlike the RS.
Big Boy, you about tomorrow, what time you getting to Lodge?

OK, 100 miles covered, here's the thoughts.
Firstly it's not *that* fast, ok I know it's not slow... 0-60 takes 4.8 and then you don't run out off power till your nudging 180mph, but as it's n/a you don't feel like your going that fast because you don't get the turbo 'kick'.
BUT
And it's a very very very big but, I have never, ever, ever, ever had a car that's so predicatable. I've just been bluewater, and managed to get the back end out round every roundabout on theindustrial estate (no other cars about, damp road). The sport mode 'lets' you play, but then when it all gets abit Pete Tong it slaps you on the wrists and puts the car straight again. (My previous RS had no sort of traction control). It's like being in a go-kart, but with stability control. It's by far the most fun car.
In conditions like today I have no doubt the RS4 would arrive to the destination much quicker, but it's a clinical experiance. This is just completely laughable fun
Pretty car, would look beter in black, but the silver is much easier to maintain, well for Mick to maintain anyway!
All in all glad I did the swap, just may of been an idea to wait till after winter!

Nevates. I for one will miss the insight into how the other half live, with your own Top gear reports and what car to aim for knowing its been tested already by some one we can actually talk to. good luck with next years project and I look forward to seeing the 997 Turbo.
I am the guy you see this morning in the 06 JDM STI by york's (in the porker) and behind you on the 127 when you were in the RS4 Behind the E-Type jag Southend bound before Christmas (jag has some go in it!!)

Cheers Darren, Your car was looking lovely today Thats why I was starring so much!
I had just been to an empty car park in Bas Vegas just testing the car's cornering with no-one about
This porker is without any shadow of a doubt the most 'fun' car I've ever had, and the best car to learn in. It's the first time I've ever been comfotable throwing a rwd car about in the wet. It's so predicatble and easy to catch the back end. It's not warp speed in a straight line like the turbo but I got a feeling it's definatly more fun!

Sounds an amazing motor mate, I was at the Colchester Porsche center on the 18th and they had a stunning cobalt 997 turbo just been sold 103k they offered my a drive in the black GT3 only 60k 04 plate thought that was a good price, but had to decline the offer, shame didn`t have the time. they have a Carrera S Coupe in cobalt which I would like to take a look at in the new year and who knows I may be joining the porker club
I will be looking out for you now that I have seen your motor and hopfully we can see how they compare maybe if the road is right.
Regards Darren

Perhaps things are just getting a little tight

It's called being classy and low key, choosing a decent colour
Mr Basildon Tastik, fake aerial, sticker boy
But aggree with you, it's not white, with red wheels, and GT3 RS stickers down the side. But I prefer less atention these days!!
Little tight, pure cheek, and from a mod aswell
Will get some actual pics asap.

But that was such a tricky car to drive on the road, and as Frayz puts it "I can't drive for sh*t" so really it had to go
Although this 997 is only the baby off the 997 range, I can tell you, I wouldn't swap it back for my old 996 RS, it's SO much more fun.
Which, after buying all these cars, I think I've finally managed to make sence of it all.... Doesn't matter how much the car costs, or what other people think, if you love it then it's the right car for you
Saying that, still can't wait for the Turbo to arrive

from those vids the ferrari sure gets left behind, not just by a small bit either, the porkers really seem to pull away with quite some ease.
i'm stickering this up later today and it will be on show at the NEC.
Beck Invest
the guy bought it for around £15k with front end damage, he's spent approx £40k on how it is now.
the exhaust alone is £3k (titanium) and check out the size of the supercharger they've bolted on
if you're wondering what these are
tyre pressure sensors!!!! (wireless)
