With our current fuels running at or close to 99ron I think octane booster can be an unneccesary expense, most imports will run happily on this and if they didnlt isn't it better practice to address this issue and get them tuned for the availble fuel - what happens if you get caught in deepest cambridgeshire with out a bottle of NF or similar

mine will run fine, even on 95 ron if it "has" to. but i prefer to run the octane booster. as said before peace of mind. plus a new ecu - apexi etc - or even one of the scooby ecus are expensive. good few hundred quid to get done.
but agree 100% if it's not running right unless it has the octane booster then that needs looking at. chance are something will go wrong if ignored in that instance imo.

I use octane booster occasionally when I have to fill up with less than ideal petrol or for special occassions such as track days

When I originally had my car mapped by Pat Herborn, I checked out ScoobyClinic's website and it said not to use octane boost when having a car mapped, so I didn't use any. But when Pat mapped the car, he wanted to know why I didn't put any in, and he said that they put that on the site because a lot of people put OB in just for the remapping session, and don't use it again, so can cause detting (Knock).
Sorry, if Pat says octane boost is worth while, then I believe him, and I don't particularly care what anyone else says! I know it works, simply because of flamer kits
PS a little bit of useless information for you, did you know that butane is put in petrol to up the RON rating? hence on warm days, when you take the filler cap off, you get a hiss from the gas venting off
