...and while were at it.

Microwaves, dishwashers, tumble driers, washing machines.

Get rid of them, soft I tell you soft!

It goes along the lines of people wanting medals for having children....
Like mothers having all that maternity leave....My mother didn't have that.....

I don't hate children or anything.....I just think they should scrap those parking spaces and make all the spaces larger width!!
Or people should work out how to get out of their car without needing a shoe-horn....
So I say again, yes I will park in the child bays if need be

I cannot get too excited about this either way but it did occur to me that one of the reasons for these mother/children bays is the allowance of extra width to strap kids in the back having seen this being done with the back doors opened fully, surely it would increase the chance of denting your car if they were parked ina "normal" space????

waste of time fighting it tbh, if you had a photo showing cars parked next to each other and then shwoing the damage you'd have more or less proven your case.

but his argument could be, we'll it wasn't me, so must have been the ar parked there before me

Mate to be honest I think the following is the best course of action:

1) Go to the pub
2) Buy a glass of your preferred choice of alcohol
3) Toast yourself for being a better person than the idiot that damaged your car and didn't even have the common decency to leave a note apologising!

Mother and Baby spaces are there specifically to help the extraction and insertion of children with a reduced risk of damage to cars either side.

Seems no one thinks of that when moaning about them.

Also, those who have children and park in M&B spaces - anyone notice what happens to the empty trolley once the food is in the car?

99% it gets left where it is and not returned. Be quite amusing for someone who parks in one of these spaces out of parking space size jealousy / lazyness or to avoid being dented by anothers door to find a trolley leaning nicely against a body panel.

I've got a daughter and I park at the other end of the car park irrespective of what spaces are availabe.

Ah, but i would rather the dent off the trolly than another car door.

The supermarket is then responsible if its the tolly, all you have to do is photo the trolly next to the dent, ie, match up the 2 connecting surfaces, take a pic and then threaten them with legal action. it works, i know.

Thats why most companies have the £1 thing to realease them, its not for theft, its to counteract the amount of claims

So if they can't even put their trollies away, they should be barred away further from other parked cars!

Really?

Maybe the OP can go to a supermarket, when no one is looking place a trolly next to his car by the dent, take a pic and claim off the supermarket. Job done

I can't understand these f****rs that wack your car door, i also drive an old van as well as my scoob and even when im in that i always make sure im really careful not to knock anyone elses car.

I was in mcdonalds once in the van eating my food and this cow in the space next to me came back with her kid and opens her car door and wacks it right against the van and starts loading the kid in! this was quite a nice new car aswell! In response i got out of my van to take my rubbish to the bin and as i opened the door smashed it into her car, causing a nice big dent. The van's pretty battered anyway so i didn't care, and seeing her face was well worth it She tried to have a go at me aswell but as i pointed out what she had just done and the dent (all be it a lot smaller than the one i did) on my van she didn't really have a leg to stand on

Yep, the car is going very well post mods and map, especially with the colder nights; certainly feels 320bp quick

"Oh I have a child and I have to take them shopping with me and I need more space to get them in and get the buggy in the boot and I can't walk as far as everyone else because I have to carry them or push them....everybody help me because I have a child!!"

If there's a parking space there, i'll park in it, plain and simple.
If the spaces were full then you'd have to park at the other end and walk anyway....first come, first serve, stop trying to get to the front of the queue

Jeez!

Some people talk some tosh and almost convince me that all parents conspire to have special parking bays just so they do not have to return their trolleys.
Does anyone have the statistics for this, or is it just based on a few personal observations??

When my kids were too young to walk, I used to use P&T spaces (you ever tried getting a car seat unbuckled out of a half open door?) because that this is what they are for. It says so on the tin! 'Parent and Todler'.

As soon as my kids could walk, I started to use the normal spaces.

But, I have always wondered what makes people so inflexible, of low esteem and self officious as to think they are above everyone else so they have to justify parking in clearly designated spaces simpley because they do not qualify normally?

It really does make you look very sad and selfish to everybody else just like the 'spoilt little kid' at nursery school who have to burst the balloon, simply because they cannot have it.

You may THINK you have a justified reason for doing some of these 'inconsiderate to others' actions (someone did it to me - once!), but at the end of the day you are now causing the problem and not simply retaliating.

If everybody did the same thing, you would not be able to as they would beat you too it. You are simply able to show bad judgement, because 99% of the other people who got there before you have not.

If you are happy with everyone calling you these things (quite legitimately) behind your back and to your face then carry on.

So the reason for these spaces are to help you get the kids in and out of the cars? and to be closer to the entrance? correct?

So back when I was young and there was no such convenience for my parents, did they whinge and moan about it?
No.....they got on with it....

[quote]low esteem and self officious[quote]

Not at all....I just think they should scrap them, make all spaces bigger and make it even.....plain and simple.....

So it comes down to me not infact being selfish, but parents wanting the world to move for them because they have the children....with bigger parking spaces....now who's selfish?

the door is that way ->

When I used to work for Mitsubishi I drove an L200 Warrior pick-up truck as a demonstrator. On returning to the vehicle in my local supermarket car park I witnessed some to$$er open his door and deliberately attempt to smash it into the door of the L200. Funny thing was, the L200 was fitted with rather large side sill bars which stuck out a good couple of inches from the rest of the bodywork. The pr1ck actually bent the edge of his own door on the bar. It was good to see him come off a lot worse... the question is.... can I now get some bars for the scoob?
