What a shame, sorry to hear that

You never know that rich benefactor could pop up at the last minute, you need a Dave Whelan figure, he only got back into football because the then owners of Wigan asked him to pay the £383.00 wage bill for the week when they were back in the old Div 4, he was forced to watch the game he was paying the wages for and a short time later splashed £600,000 on buying the club, the rest is history as they say.

I got this from the Whelan interview on Simon Mayo's 5Live show, i'm not an anorak and a very interesting interview it was.

This all started back in the late 90s. We had a chairman who was hell bent on promotion to Division 2 (as it was then), so he overspent massively. We did reach the playoffs in that year but lost quite heavily to Torquay United. I was there
Anyway we have never really recovered since then. We have had a few bad chairmen, I won`t mention names. As you may know, you have to balance the books at lower league level unless you become a cropper.
If the worst does come to the worst, we`ll just set up another club.
Taking heart from this Telford United went the same way and reformed as AFC Telford and are now getting gates of approx 2000 from what I`ve read.
So I hope it doesn`t come to this, but it maybe a blessing in disguise who knows?
I`ve seen this coming, it was only a matter of time.

Anyway, I`ll keep you all informed of whats happening.

Thanks for your support

Anthony

Wigwam was not Whelans first choice, bit of a knock back for him to have took them over actually

Good news for the time being, hope it all goes smoothly for you all.

So...........another little club bites the dust. Bigger clubs are allowed HUGE debts, but the league does nowt for the grassroots clubs.

One rule for the ritch, one for the poor

This is never a good thing to see. I have been a fan and son of a board member of a Conference club for 18 years and hate to see smaler clubs go to the wall
I hope the supporters can get something together by way of a team for the town which can be the platform to a resurrection
Good luck - dont give up.
