Mick Jagger should be on that list, more of an icon than Paul McCartney.

David Beckham and his hideous pouting stick insect wife, sum up everything that is wrong with society for me.

They are tacky, money obsessed, designer label muppets. Absolutely no class whatsoever.

When I see pictures of them I'm embarrassed, and as for his football talents, he spent so much time on his "image" that Ferguson got fed up with him and kicked him out. He has under performed at every major Championship for England and is now mercifully off the international scene, he has also lost his place at Real Madrid.

Anyone who gets married on a throne and calls their kids Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz, is seriously f*cked in the head as far as I'm concerned.

Spot on. We have a saying in NZ, Every boy wants to be an All Black and every girl wants to marry an All Black.

Well that can now be applied in the UK but replaced with "Footballer" or "Celebrity"

Celebrities used to have have talent to get famous, but the current society that loves Jordan, Chantelle, Victroria Beckham, Jade Goody etc is ridiculous. And Jeff Brazier ffs?

Yes they're awful.... Not only have they gone out and made a career for themselves earning a lot on money doing so but they have chosen to raise a family. They seem to love their kids and from what I can tell shield them from the limelight. Shock horror they are in their late 20's early 30's and enjoy going out to parties and eating in nice places.

It's people who knock people like them who are the problem with this country. always negative and looking for the worst in things.

I think the truth is somewhere between the two. I think it's their ostentatious displays of wealth that get most people's backs up more than anything. Just lacks class.

Well if you were a multimillionaire would you not buy lots of nice things (depending on your taste). People make a lot of money following them around and taking pics. Yes they will use that for their own gain but so would I as it seems they cant stop it so they may as well use it to their advantage. If you saw the interview with Beckham about a year ago when Tim Lovejoy spent a week with him you'd be amazed at what they have to put up with. They've had a photographer sat outside their house for a full year peering over the wall to their house trying to take a picture. He made the point that if this was anybody else it could be considered stalking but as he's got a camera doing a 'job' it's Ok.

Fact is if you and your wife/partner/lover/whatever went out for a meal you'd get dressed up. If your wife was given a £2000 dress and jewels to wear I'm sure she would. You go for your meal/night out and 20 people follow you taking pictures. That's nothing to do with them but yet people lay the blame at their door.

If people have an axe to grind then grind it with the idiots who buy the papers and magazines that pay for these pics as they fuel it.

Beckham was a great footballer and is still a very good one. To reach the level he did is very rare but we all soon forget that. If he's as dumb as people make out then even bigger credit to him.

Sure, i don't dispute the guy's talent, nor do i dismiss what they have to endure from being in the spotlight. But let's face it, they (she especially) milk it, she doesn't have to make such a fashion statement all the time, but she's put herself on that pedestal now, and many people see it as avoidable and tacky, that's all.

I don't think anyone is knocking the Beckhams in the sense that they are rich and can obviously buy what they want, my dismay is that a large percentage of this country want to emulate them and in many cases this comes at the cost of traditional values and morals. The whole celebrity obsessed society where the Beckhams are more important than our political leaders.

If they love their kids, why aren't they at home with them rather than swanning off round the world going to every possible celebrity occasion?

They don't spend any where near as much time with their kids as most parents do. Every week they are off at some bash, where are their 3 kids, certainly not with them. They are palmed off on some nanny or the grandparents.

If you think that buying 5 year old kids diamond earrings makes you a good parent, then fair enough. Personally I think it's about spending time with them, not spending money on them!

This is down to the media though and peoples warped values not them. He works hard, is in a long term relationship and seems to have an extended family around them.

I'd rather people looked up to them than our political leaders as they tend to be closet homosexuals who'd rather be getting a £5 hand job on clapham common than be home with their 'wife'. Lets also not forget downing a bottle of Scotch a night.

Well as Beckham plays for Madrid and has to train I'd guess he's at home a lot more than most dads. He will train a few hours a day. a lot of dads will hardly see their kids during the week. As for jetting off everywhere. They may go out twice a week which I would say a lot of couple with kids would do. even more so if they can get somebody to look after their kids of a few hours.

you're one of the muppets who reads the Sun and is probably sits on the toilet reading your girlfriends copy of heat.

I'm sorry, but that is entirely self inflicted. You can't be a media ***** one minute then moan about the Papparazzi.

Don't believe me? Take a look at Paul Scholes. Just as high profile a footballer as David Beckham, and I bet you know nothing about his private life. I also bet he has no papparazzi outside his house.

You are obviously impressed by new wealth and designer labels, good on you, I personally am not and find the whole celebrity culture horrendous. And the Beckhams are the ultimate blinged up celebrities.

Paul Scholes is ginger..... nobody gives a **** what he gets up to off the pitch

With Beckham it's the fact he married a pop star and himself had movie star looks. I doubt many women fancy Paul Scholes. Loads of women fancy Beckham. he sells papers and has doen ever since his profile was raised worldwide in 98. I'm not denying some is self inflicted but a lot of the time it's down to people paying a lot of money for an exclusive photo and that's driven by the masses who will buy the publications that print it.

Take a step back and look where Beckham came from and what he's achieved with his tallent. If I had a son and he did what he's done I'd be extremly proud of him. it's you who's obsessed with the Celeb culture and is failing to see the achievements of the man.... still jealously tends to blind people.

Of course not, Madonna and the Beckhams never have nannies. I live in one of the UK's richest postcodes with a 2 year old, think I know a bit more about rich people and their nannies than most. My wife looks after our son and one of the questions she's asked the most is "Who do you work for?"

And the paparazzi problem is completely self-inflicted. Look at the difference between how some celebrities get the attention and others don't.

I think you need to make a clear separation btwn Beckham (you don't get to be captain of England just as you get your face in the Sun, I assume) and his manufactured wife, who appears to be more of an attention ***** than most of SN put together.

I'm not jealous of anyone, I love my life and what I have. Surely it is the people who try to emulate them who are the jealous ones? The whole point of jealousy is that you want what other people have, ie: the money the clothes, the lifestyle. Everything I have said should show to anyone with half a brain, that that is exactly what I don't want.

David Beckham has a talent as a footballer, plus he knows he isn't the sharpest pencil in the box. As for Victoria, well she did used to "sing" and I use the term very loosely indeed, I'd say that electronics played some part in making her voice sound far better than it actually is.
They have both done very well for themselves, but for me they sum up the fact that money does not buy you class nor grace. Yes they are young and enjoying the lifestyle their wealth has given them, but there does seem to be something a tad vulgar in the way they, primarly Victoria, go about it.

Back on topic. I agree the list is missing certain people, mentioned by others as well, such as Stephen Hawkin and Richard Branson. I think my vote would have to go to Hawkin, if he were on the list of course.
