To be fair i`d expect the prodrive ones to be lighter and stronger but wasnt willing to pay the money for prodrive ones, mine are dare replicas and water has got under the paint and bubbled due to stonechipping on the edge of the spokes-wasnt expecting much from dare to be fair however im pretty sure they aint gonna be cracked though will find out soon when i sort the bad bits and respray all4 .To be fair had some team dynamics k2`s crack between stud holes before i had these so nothing would suprise me-got a pretty good relationship with the lads at the shop that supplied these though so wouldnt be worried if they were cracked pretty sure they`d get em replaced one way or another.(These have been on about 2yr)

FLAT ERIC Fancy showing me them pictures ffs! lol.
I must resist! I must.
Ere, just out of interest, did you find your speedo more accurate after or less accurate? Of course i am already assuming you have a Road Angel or something GPS with which to check it with!
Mine as it is now reads faster by 3 to 4 mph than true speed as per GPS, and as the speed increases to motorway cruising, can be as much as 5 to 6 mph different to true speed. But my speedo reads faster in both cases.
Nice Wagon BTW, smart.
When you say you had Eibachs, have you changed them or the car now?

Looks nice mate...
See all the money I've saved buying the Prodrive Reps... I've put into my engine rebuild...
My wheels still look like new so far, and are still in one peice even with all the bhp... lol
With selling my old wheels, my 18's owe me £495 quid... bet 4 new tires ain't far off that...
I only got them because classics look better on 18's ( fact )... and I wanted wheels that went straight on and cleared my Brembos... I've fitted 3mm spacers all round though to bring them out just a touch... just for looks though... still don't catch the arches... Might slam it next like my old one... lol

i know some wheels are made from magnesium alloy which is a stronger cast and a lighter material, but not sure about the prodrive wheels casting or material specs and same goes for the type of casting sand, lostwax, forge, induction and so on.

Magnesium cast alloy isn't as strong as a forged/flowformed alloy.
Which is why, Prodrive spend the time and effort ensuring that their design is controlled and produced to their specification.
It is unlikely that Prodrive don't have the design/specification tied up from a commercial point of view, otherwise the manufacturer could sell on unbranded versions of the PFF-7, which would undercut all the investment prodrive have made in the design and development of the wheel.

Theres a firm on E Bay selling Gold/Antrhacite 17" Sti Alloys & Tyres £399.00 plus postage.
They are a budget tyre supplied but you can pay a bit more for better rubber.

The copies that I've seen are VERY heavy..! They were heavier that the OEM STI 17's and that's saying something..!
Don't forget the negative effects on performance these heavy wheels have..!

Big difference!
Remember that unsprung weight has 4x the effect of sprung weight. There fore a wheel that's 2 kg heavier has the affect of adding ~8kgs to the body weight x4 corners, that's 64 kg heavier or an additional person in the car..!

I have just puchased 18" Inovite Redlines. I did this after trawling through Scoobynet to see what type of feedback they had recieved. I couldn't find any negative feedback. I found more comments about OE Sti wheels cracking. Having purchased them, they weighed 2kg each more than the OE wheels. How much of that is due to comparing new with worn tyres I don't know.
Am I Happy ?
Damn right. They look the dogs danglies, they handle superb.
Do I feel Safe ?
Damn right. No negative feedback on Scoobynet has got to be taken as a positive. If there were issues, they would come to light on this forum.
Do I think they are as Strong as PFF-7's ?
No, probably not from the info I have read. However, if Redlines are strong enough, PFF7's must be over engineered (arguably), so I would be paying for something that I do not need for a road car (I would put my standard wheels on for a trackday anyway if I was to do one).
Maybe this could be clarified by Inovite displaying their test results in comparison to Prdrives test results.
Obviously, the above is merely my opinion.

Hmm, why bother buying new wheels that are heavier than standard?
Absolutely no point in that what-so-ever.
The idea of aftermarket wheels is you get the strength or even more strength than you do from the OEM wheels, BUT you get that with a lot less weight, thus reducing unsprung mass which can only be good for your car.
But, and obviously this is imho, i cannot see any point wasting money on cheaper wheels if they are heavier than OEM. Weird. Now i am confused.

Whilst all this theory cannot be argued with, there is no doubt that my car feels better now than previous by purchasing a set of wheels and tyres at a very good price. That means more to me than theoretical statements on Scoobynet from people that haven't felt the difference back to back.

But i see your point.
And i still wouldnt increase the weight of my car even if they did feel better, there is no point. For the same money you can get someat like the Rota's whose reputation precede's them and they are far lighter and give you the better feel too.
I am interested in your comments though as i have asked a lot on here about the changes from 17 to 18" rims
