I wave first. Flash and wave a newage normally. TBH, have only found the newages to return the wave.

before she died, when driving my old wrx i always used to either give a subtle nod, wave or usually a flash of the foggies. but round here more chavs than not drive classics, and its all reps or suits that drive the "above the waving" newage ones. so a bit of a disappiontment.

oh and alcazar im still looking for your red clasic round scunny mate

I haven't seen any other scoobies since i got mine! I'll definitely be waving when i spot one. I always wave from my mx5, and only mk1 drivers seem to wave back - still, it makes a nice change from being laughed at!

I always try and wave (unless I miss it and its to late). Sometimes get one back, generally from newer ones currently. Even had a few from other cars...must be out in the family car for the day.

That's an idea. I've often wondered why I get waves from people I've never met before when I'm driving the scoob and they're not.

Prehaps your right. They're probably giving the scoob a rest

Well,we have to decorate our eye curtains with mascara, come on! What if Richard Gere or Keanu Reeves drives past in Lambagini, eh? We will be fluttering our eye lashes, rolling our eye *****, our tounge hanging half way down with open gob. Multi-tasking well and proper You might as well forget us giving that wave sho!te to other scoobies!

I always wave, but had an interesting encounter last week. On the motorway I pass a M reg WRX, going in the same direction as me, with a young lad and his girl in. As I pass I look over give a friendly 'hello' wave. I think he took it as a 'bye bye' type wave, however. Because we both leave the motorway at the next junction, and proceed along the dual carriageway. Next thing this WRX comes charging past, I look over and the young lad is staring right a head with a determined look on his face. I think he was trying to prove a point.....

Well as I have only owned a scooby since September, I always try to wave usually first even though my car is a new one I do feel I get a resonable amount of waves, or nods back, from all ages, even had one from a woman once.

looking at the responses on here it would be interesting to see the results in a poll

it would also seem if 2 owners are using the i will wait for the other driver to wave method neither will get a wave just a thought...

I think it would be a good idea if we all waved first, even to the extent of trying to wave before the other person. That way none of us will look stupid in front of our partners if we dont get a wave back.

We should all have respect to each other for choosing such a great Manufacturer.

Go on dont be shy GIVE A SCOODY WAVE

Got a newage. Always wave, had two newage drivers wave back, no classic waves back yet.

Girlfriend still hasn't cottoned on, she think I'm special

Cheers

I wave at all model years, but have noticed the waving back is much less than it was years ago as Imprezas get more popular. Strange but true.

Always wave or flash lights in my new age.

Always wave at other cars if the Female passenger is giving you a smile as you coast by.

I wave, usually only get the gesture returned by classic owners. Other day though, a woman driving a blob eye waved back. Nearly keeled over with the shock

I'm with you on that one.

I have a 05 wrx ppp, and i always wave/flash regardless of model or age of Scoob.
90% wave back i guess, the rest may not have seen me or they were ladies.

Come to think of it though i have had a wave from a couple of women, but i find that they smile back rather than wave, thats fine by me...

I even flash other Scoobies when i'm in my Van, now that confuses the hell out of people LOL

I generally always wave even though I am a girl. I find the stickered up, customised ones are usually the most friendly (saw a v nice yellow one on ring road round York). STIs don't seem to ever wave back.

[QUOTE=speedymonkey]My mum has a mini cooper s (real one, not a bmw )QUOTE]

Oi! lol
Yeah my mate was the same with his old mini, when I was driving both my classic VW Beetles, other owners would always wave, not at any newage Beetles though - golf with a weird looking shell IMHO, suppose you could really say the same 'bout the mini but I don't even pretend when it comes to that.
In the scoob (classic) I used to wave at all other owners but never a wave from a woman, also found that age wasn't really a factor with who waved 3 years ago (really seemed to depend on the area I was driving in) but nowadays it's a bit weird with the little kevs that drive around with a permanent case of having something to prove (that they are drivin like complete fools for example).
I did seem to get less and less waves from newage drivers in Surrey last year though, regardless of age.
Then there're just some people who are oblivious or don't know about the Subaru comradery thing.
I'll still be waving at scoobies though, so if you see a red (bmw) one
waving like a happy clapper, c'est moi!

Startedto show a hand to scooby owners here in finland but they don't really understand it. they don't even wave to acknowledge when you've let them thru a tight part of the road or pulled over to give more space. if they don't show gratitude they get a sharp blast on the horn, Finnish drivers are lacking in respect.
However my wife has recieved the 'knowing smile' from another scooby woman owner who lives on the way to our market. So it's not all lost...

I own a newage (wrx300) and always wave/flash (headlights that is!).

It's one of my favourite parts of scooby ownership. As an experiment I even flashed an EVO the other day and got a wave back in return. Should I feel dirty?

My GF used to laugh about waving. Now, when she drives it, she waves to other scoobs too. When she got her first wave back shw was like "Oh right, yeah, that is pretty cool" Now she get the waving thing.

Agree though, most classsic will wave, occasionally newages will. Women don't apart from mine.
