Spoke to Andy F about this resonator mod and he replied it would be a good idea to remove it before a remap as it will only help (not sure about removing and not remapping) and let the airbox feed from the inner wing.

Tonight I have done said mod. It took me all of 30 minutes. I chopped the resonator box/pipes so that the pipe into the airbox is still coming through the inner wing to aid sucking cold air from the inner wing and the pipe into the ram pipe is still there really just to help locate it and stop it rattling.

When you look at the resonator box assembly, I cant help but think removing it has to be a vast improve. The air flowing into the resonator must be seriously turbulating (is that the right word??) with the air coming out of the resonator. There are 2 pipes about 2.5" diameter going into a single pipe 2.5" diameter (like a Y peice) and air has to pass in both direction through that single pipe. Not only is it restrictive but it is forcing air to work against its self slowing the whole ram air effect.

I know what my current power is and I'm doing little other mods so if I get a good result then I'd be sure to say that this would be a big contributor to that.

I'll let you know the out come.

Heres to hoping

Just wait and see if the wife notices and thinks something is wrong

Well after a week of the wife telling me the car doesn't need mapped now after removing the resonator box (yes, I dont drive the car that often) I decided to take it to work this morning. After the car had warmed up to temp there is curtainly a differance in the way the car goes, turbo spool is quicker and sooner now hitting 1.5bar at 3000rpm (needs looking at, its increased boost by 0.1bar) and the power/torque on the entire rev range seems to be alot more linear, loosing the big turbo kick at 3000-3500rpm, its alot more ............ useable really.

If done correctly I cant see how you could loose power from this mod, if you do, you must gain bags of torque, either way, its improve the drive of the car.

The above link is almost there but you need to seperate the in from the er.... in, what I mean is seperate the two pipes altogether as your still creating turbulance in the flow of air with that setup.

I cut mine where I've shown with a black line on the picture, still retaining the mounting bolt thingy:

Its just how I did it and I'm just kinda explaning the differance it made to the car.

It's going for mapping though
