It makes me laugh when about 90% of bikers have completely virgin knee sliders! Why have them if yo can't get your knee down.
I have an RGV250 sitting in the garage, a real bike, not a 4 stroke, but it's too much hassle getting the gear on and off at each end, plus my 2 year old prefers the car.
Also, most journeys will be quicker on a bike, but if you include all the getting ready before you go out and when you get there, then 9 times out of 10 a car will get you there quicker.
Also, if you don't wear ear plugs on a bike, you'll be deaf within a few years, that's if you don't kill yourself first.
Also, the roads are too busy nowadays, and there's far too many speed cameras around.
Also, it's rubbish when it rains and unpleasant when it's too hot.
Shall I go on? No there's too many reasons to list!

I would dearly love an RGV , but 1 bike is a luxury really, 2, well the missis would need serious new handbag compensation....and i can't afford that
Sliders...nicely mashed....both.
Ear plugs....gotta agree there, especially on a stroker.
Speed cameras....just gotta know where to go ....north yorkshire basically.
I/we ride all weathers so just used to it now....but i know what ya mean.
But most bikers will agree there is just something about bike that cars don't have (cue many many smart comments) regardless of what you ride.
i.e easy rider wouldn't be the same if they were in dudley in a vauxhall

why is it, whenever i've seen these type of threads where the old who's quickest debate appears, that people start quoting 0-60 times and 1/4 mile??
i see zero logic in buying what is effectively a toned down rally car and then seeing how quickly you can drive it in a straight line! (yes the cossie brigade are also guilty of this, not just having a pop at the scooby geeks )
how about those that actually enjoy 'driving' their car, post up some lap times from trackdays and we'll see how they compare to bikes times and get a better idea of which will outperform the other in a real world situation, rather than a trafffic light grand prix?

My only transport until I was 20 was bikes so I've ridden them in all weathers and at the time I said I'd never get a car, however there comes a time when the hassles of a motorbike just suddenly hit you and you gradually lose that desire for a bike. My bike when I was 20 was an RG500, that at the time was blindingly quick and squirmed and bucked all over the place, standard tyre size was a 120!
I used to think I was Kevin Schwantz! Although he crashed more than me.

Horses for courses. I have a Daytona 955i and it makes my WRX feel like a milkfloat (except when wet or very twisty). However, I struggle to get the wife + 2 child seats on the back, even after removing the hump.
I use the bike for work (20 mins, 45mpg) and the car in very bad weather (45 mins 20mpg) and today the pushbike (40 mins).
Get both if you can afford it and live with the risks. Nothing in life is safe.
oh and stop being a ****

Bikers don't have friends, just other 'biker buddies'! Scooby owners do have friends and therefore need more than 1 seat!
(Not directed at every biker, just this little pr*ck with nothing better to do!)

Oh, and my car is slow, Andy F, Paul, or Gulli, would make you look REALLY daft All of them run in the 9's.

Do people only drive scoobys from 0-60 or 1/4 then ??
Fcuked if thats the only way Im riding my bike
How (honestly) usable is a car with that much grunt on good roads or a track, my bike may only have 115bhp(only a 600) but its exploitable just about everywhere.
And finally for all the "but a car has more seats etc" I have a four door saloon too....its just Id rather take the bike cos its more fun

1/4 miles times is just a way of saying how quick it is that most people understand.
If you said the car can lap Brands Hatch Indy in 50 secs most people on here wouldn't know if that was impressive or not

As a working musician I think I'd look a tw@t trying to carry 2 guitars, Amplifier, PA head, lighting rig, foldback speakers and flight cases of gear on a bike. I can get it all in the scoob, and have the front seat free should I wish to take a nice groupie home.

Scoobys are much more practical, they might not be quite as fast as some bikes, but you cant get a blow job/hand job doing 70mph whilst listening to your favorite tunes on a bike tho can you

I'm a paramedic. If you could see how many lives get messed up by gung ho bikers then you'd rethink your choice of transport. In the last 2 weeks, I've had 4 RTA's involving bikers. 2 died, 2 are in intensive care and will be lucky to walk again...in fact, they'll be lucky to eat solid food again. Now, it's not just their lives that are affected. It's the lives of their wives, kids, friends and family. In all of those 4 RTA's, according to the witnesses it was the biker's irresponsible use of speed that caused the accidents.

This is exactly the reason why I don't have a bike (my family would disone me if I bought one)
However, it's not just the bikers riding too fast, it's also the average drivers inability to look out/spot/avoid bikers thats also a big factor as to why so many bikers have an accident.

Bikers know the dangers, accept em and get on with it.
"it's not just their lives that are affected. It's the lives of their wives, kids, friends and family"
Absolutely...but thats the same statement for smoking, drinking, poor diet blah blah blah, your are right, but it goes for sooo many things lots of peeps do daily.
"according to the witnesses it was the biker's irresponsible use of speed "
i am guessing they aren't in any way qualified to say that with any authority, other than it sounded fast so he musta been gunning it...it may be true in this case, but still unreliable at best.........bet a plenty of cars on hear sound like they are doing 100mph when stood still!
At the end of the day, the implications of getting it very wrong on a bike (cars aswell)are final, but wrapping yourself in cotton wool may well keep you from harm, but it's not living your life.
