That's something we have in common.

i am very lucky where i live too, we have a lot of open countryside here and as i am high up the breeze i get is great

Also timber framed houses seem to be a lot hotter than brick houses.

Another top tip: Keep a thermometer in the shade outside (must be in the shade), and one inside the house.

If the one outside reads hotter than the one inside SHUT the windows - especially between 12:00 to 4:00pm. All you do is draw warmer air in. Reopen them when the sun start setting. How many times do I have to tell ex-pats that in Spain, whinging about it being too hot, I tell them to begger off back home (in Spanish ).

Also Keep the curtains drawn and also have the back of them lined with white material or get some white blinds. If you have Pilkinton "K" glass, remove it and reverse it Also painting your roof and walls white does wonders

I opened my loft hatch, it is no cooler but a couple of big spiders have emerged from it, they can stay though as they might get rid of the flies coming in through the open windows.

as long as the flies are not from somewhere else

hot air rises so opening the hatch lets the hot air rise into it

Lol

I think there is enough hot air up there already to fit anymore, I stuck my head up the hole earlier and I came out dripping, it's seriously hot and sticky up there tonight...
